b) "LoL Invitational": A series of special matches featuring guest teams from Korea, US and China. The goal is to serve as an appetizer for the first official League of Legends league in Korea planned for February.

Seems like the four invited Korean teams will play a mini-tournament for the rights to represent Korea in another mini-tournament featuring CLG and WE, from US and China respectively. So if I understood correctly, the invitational will go like this:
(1) First a mini-tournament with EDG, MiG, Startale and Team OP
(2) Then another mini-tournament with CLG, WE, and top-two teams from (1)

1. 1st match: MiG vs Startale
2. 2nd match: EDG vs Team OP
3. Winners of each match will be advancing to the next tournament featuring CLG and WE
4. Format: a) Best of three b) The two first games will be Draft pick c) The third and deciding game(if necessary) will be Blind pick
5. The matches will be recorded on Jan. 13th, 17:00 at YongSan e-sports Stadium, and it will air on Jan. 20th, 19:00 at OnGameNet channel.

Q: How do you feel about winning the first match? Mokuza: I was angry when we lost the 2nd set, but I regained my focus during the last set. I was worried because of something that happened in the team, but I'm happy we won. vinylcat: This is my first game as a support for EDG. I'm happy I was able to work well together with my teammates. sxspp: I was happy that I got to play Morgana in the first and third sets. I'm embarrassed that I died 7 times in the second set, even though I'm the Korean rep. MakNooN: I'm the hole in the team, MakNooN (laughs). I'm happy I didn't make many mistakes today. IRushI: I want to use this chance to apologize. Since the games move fast, I talk disrespectfully to the other members. I'm thankful that they don't take it the wrong way. I think the games today proved that EDG can do well without MakNooN doing anything amazing.
Q: Were you worried about the game against Team OP? Mokuza: Yes, because there are a lot of good players in Team OP. It gave us the reason to practice hard. vinylcat: We practiced really hard.
Q: you'll be playing against foreign teams. sxspp: We have no information on the Chinese team, but they don't have much on us either. We'll be able to beat CLG if we just shut down HotshotGG.
Q: 3rd set was blind pick. MakNooN: We didn't prepare at all for it. We thought we would win 2-0. sxspp: I picked a champion that would be safe against any pick, Morgana. That's why I didn't pick Ryze. I was able to stop Gragas from getting strong. Mokuza: I trusted MakNooN. Since he is a very good top laner, I trusted him to do well. vinylcat: Blind pick isn't used in other tournaments, so we went all in on the draft mode sets, hoping to win 2-0.
Q: There will be a LoL league in Korea soon. vinylcat: If there are as many people as today, it will be successful. Mokuza: I didn't think there would be so many people here. I think it's because of the Katarina skin giveaway (laughs).
Q: Would you rather play against MiG or StarTale? Mokuza: We practice with StarTale a lot. They've improved and I'm sure the fans want to see them play. sxspp: There aren't famous teams in Koera except MiG and EDG so far. So I hope StarTale comes up to make things interesting. I personally want to see MiG play against Team OP.
Q: If you had to pick a VIP. Mokuza: MakNooN did the best. He stopped the top lane very well in the 3rd set.
Q: Anything else? MakNooN: I hope Nidalee stops being banned. I practice her the most and I'm sad that I can't play her often. IRushI: I want to thank Jae Beom(not sure who he is). He helps us every time we have a match. sxspp: It's hard to practice because we don't live together. If we find a sponsor we promise we'll give them good results (laughs). I don't know what will happen to EDG in the future, but we'll try our best next week.
MiG: We need to practice more for games against foreign teams
Q: How do you feel about becoming a Korean rep? Loco: Although we won 2:0, I'm not happy with the games. MadLife: I'm satisfied with the results. The games were difficult since I couldn't use my regular runes because of the patch. Woong: I'm not satisfied. I couldn't lead the team well as the captain. StarTale improved a lot, so we can't let our guard down against them in the future. We need to focus more from now on. Rapidstar: We're not good enough yet. We need to practice harder than we are doing now. CloudTemplar: The games were fun today. I want to do well against the foreign teams as well.
Q: You dominated the teamfights. Woong: The calls and the plays were good. We picked good champions as well. CloudTemplar: We had the better position. We got in position first and initiated, so we were able to win.
Q: You started off badly in game 2. Loco: I panicked at first, but I trusted out bottom lane (laughs). CloudTemplar: Loco is our bottom lane (laughs).
Q: If you had to pick a VIP. Loco: I think Woong and CloudTemplar had very good teamwork today.
Q: You're playing against foreign teams next week. Loco: We won't lose a single game. WE is known to be China's best team, but I think our team will win.
Q: Regular season is planned to start in March. Loco: I think we'll get as many viewers as StarCraft. Woong: We'll be able to attract a lot of people if the games are fun. We'll do well in the regular season. Loco: If you want games to be fun, you need to permanently ban Shaco (laughs).
Q: Your determination for playing against the foreign teams Loco: Everyone will see who the best AP in the world is. MadLife: We'll crush everyone in the name of love and justice. CloudTemplar: I want to play a game without regrets.
Q: Anything else? Woong: We'll try our best to play even better. Rapidstar: Our best record so far in foreign tournaments is 4th place. We couldn't make WCG, but we'll show that Korean teams can beat foreign teams.

Congrats on the win Loco! Seems that inhouse intensive scrims he was talking about on CSN with Seltzer have been paying off. Shame it also means he can't stream games as those scrims are usually private for those team T_T

Well we know the CLG games haven't been played yet, do we know when those go down? Will they be televised live? Or will they be played and televised at a later date with no live stream?

Games have been played since last week. They'll go on TV (OGN's channel in Korea) sometime early Feb.
The OGN official website (http://www.ongamenet.com) will have a stream, but you have to use IE and install their software when prompted.
Of note is that they are apparently going to have an HD stream for the LoL invitational starting next week. Dunno why they don't have it for today's episode.
Should be on in about.. 2 hours? 2 am PST.
edit:
Some more information from the website.
The National Invitational (which is those games played on the 13th) will be broadcast on the first two TV dates (today, the 20th, and the 27th). The Global Invitational (those games played on the 19th and 20th, CLG/WE/the two winners from the National Invitational) will be broadcast on the remaining three TV dates (3rd, 10th, 17th).
I believe the first episode (aka today's) will be the EDG vs Team OP sets. 2nd will be MiG vs Star Tale.
Really sloppy play by both teams in games 1 and 2. Game 1 especially both teams took turns trying to throw the game. Game 3 was just a stomp from start to finish.

Korean commentary from the OGN casters does make this game better to watch. Really hope the vods from the LoL Invitational are all up soon, would be nice to see the finals I missed.

Can't wait to check-out this VOD when I get home. Wanna hear the OGN commentary finally :D
Semi-related, random thought: it'd be great if there were some graphical re-make of the game for tournament purposes. Nothing too drastic, just easier to follow when spectating.
Sudden Attack 12.46 % Aion 11.78% FIFA Online 2 7.45% League of Legends 6.78% Warcraft 3 6% StarCraft 5.85% Lineage 3.11% World of Warcraft 2.97% Maple Story 2.67% Lineage 2 2.42%
Very nice try by MiG. I expected them to surrender but it was quite a feat for you guys to surive over and over when all your inhibitor towers were down, and many times when all three inhibitors were destroyed. Kudos to you and your team Loco.
Can make out most of what's going on well enough, just not the names which they summarize after kills anyway.
Something about Korean casting man....I just wish I knew what they were saying. Or that English-speaking casters could get this excited about ANYTHING.

I don't think people are going to hate you for that. Most people who follow the LoL scene know that it's getting bigger than SC2 and other games. I think a lot of people who follow the scene also feel like it's going to be completely huge and I would not be surprised at all if it goes "mainstream" the way that Brood War did in Korea.
I certainly think its chances of getting that big are a lot higher than SC2's.

Haha can you imagine the outrage when mainstream SC2 progamers start migrating over to LoL (not that I'm predicting it'll happen, but who knows?)
I can't tell whether the shitstorm will be better or worse than BW-->SC2 migration...

I don't see that happening because the two games are very different. Sure, a pro gamer for SC2 or Brood War is probably gonna be pretty good at LoL but it's an entirely different skill set and I can't imagine too many players being able to make a switch from StarCraft to LoL successfully. Hell, look at chu8 who made the switch from HoN to LoL and at least those two games are in the same genre.
I do hope LoL continues to grow in Korea though because I absolutely love the Korean commentators and can only hope that the NA scene gets a commentator who gets half as excited as they do.
That was some of the most fortuitous shit I've ever seen happen in that game. Inhibs spawning right as they're trying to push Nexus? Those Maokai roots and Skrner ults pulling people across the fucking map? Just unbelievable skill from both teams. Really makes me wonder though, would NA teams still stomp all over them? I noticed the cs in this game was low compared to a standard pro NA/EU game....no one had 200cs by 20-25 min. Obviously this was because of the more intense teamfighting and roaming taking place (5 man early roam new meta by MiG?) but is this really the 'best' or most efficient way to play, or does NA/EU still have it locked down?
I can't think of a situation where MiG could've won that game since WE can never get aced if they never commit fully to one team fight, and they wouldn't have because they knew they would lose 5v5. I know one game isn't a lot to go off of but I've always thought Riot should make structures stronger so that it would give teams like MiG in that situation a fair chance to come back.

Then people would just turtle and the game would be incredibly boring. It's bad enough as it is that you need a sizable advantage just to push down turrets.
I received a copyright notice with OGN's name and presumed that meant they were going to start uploading the vods regularly. Deleted them before I saw that their channe,l http://www.youtube.com/user/TVOngamenet was still quite behind. Given that each vod is 2 gigs or so, I'm not really favorable to the idea of uploading them all up again.
I usually toss one of them into my queue stream while I'm away at school 9kst - 12kst Monday and Wednesday.
Can't really understand what's going on on that site (and having trouble getting it working)....any way you could link the specific VODs and what they are or give us some sort of translation?

I couldn't get them to load in Chrome or Firefox but it worked in IE. Might be something to do with how OGN streams their VODs. I think it also asks you to download something before you can watch it.

Introduction: - Well for starters, seeing as it's a Korean site you should be using IE. - Download all the plugins. -Then click one of the options under VOD on the left hand of the page. -나는캐리다 = I Am A Carry = Kim Carrier playing/commentating games with pro LoL players. -LOL INVITATIONAL = LoL Invitational = The invitational LoL tournament -Then you click one of the thumbnails, they're listed latest to earlier going from top left to bottom right, so the start of the VOD sets will be whatever is closest to the bottom.
[2012.01.30] as mentioned, is the date of the episode which it was aired.
[ being the opening bracket that indicates this is a date and not a strong of numbers that would be confused as part of the show title.
2012 represents the year 2012
. is a period serving to separate the year digits and the following digits
01 indicates the first month, January
. is one more period separating the two month digits from the following digits
30 are still the digits that indicate the day of the previously stated month of the previously stated year within which this episode was aired.
LOL Night Show, I presume they intend to make more LoL variety shows at some point all of which would be slotted under this title.
나는캐리다 is the title of the show which translates into I Am A Carry, which is a pun on Kim Carrier and some LoL terminology.
5호 is the episode number, 1부 is the episode portion number.
Further instructions:
If one desired to watch this episode in chronological order so as to not spoil the results and events that take place, one would click 1부 and watch the vod before clicking 2부, for the second portion of the vod after which if you wished to continue doing so, would click the vod of episode 5 portion 3 and so on until you have seen all that you wished of the episode.
Part two: If you click LOL invitational to reach the LOL Tournament category of the vod listings you will be presented a similar layout. ie:
[2012.01.20] is the date of which this vod, and as presumably mentioned previously in the thread these matches were played much earlier on, so this broadcast date does not reflect the date of which the game was played.
[ is the brackets which starts off the date formatting
2012 serves to indicate the year of our lord 2012
These four digits followed by a period punctuation mark, ., which serves as a easily visible separator, preferable to a simple space character.
After the period you will see 01, which serves to indicate the month, first month being January.
This month number is followed by another period mark which separates the month digits from the following digits, 20.
This 20 indicates the 20th day of the month, as stated being January.
This date is the closed by a ] bracket.
LOL is the stylized way Koreans type LoL or the first letters of League Of Legends
인비테이셔널 is hangul which one would read allowed as in-bi-te-seo-nul, it should be stated that this is not a Korean word, but the hangul transliteration of Invitational.
After the title of the show LOL inbiteseonul, you will see the episode number 1회 and the part number 2부. First episode, second part.
At the end, you will find a (0), this has no bearing on the title of the VOD. It is merely a number which indicates the number of replies posted in the VOD. There are no comments for this VOD.
As you can see it follows all of the title format as the previously cited LOL Invitational VOD, but the difference being 인비 3회 3부.
A discerning eye would notice that the characters '인비' were also used in the previous vod's title. These characters being reaad as In and Bi, this is still a VOD for the LOL Invitational tournament, but the title has been shortened down from inbiteseonul to inbi, transliterated from Invi, which does not mean anything in English but this is how Koreans prefer to shortform the title. 3회 indicates the 3rd episode and 3부 indicates the third part of said episode.

Spam refresh enough and the vod eventually works. YESSSSSS. Very inconvenient but youku upload is too slow for me T_T Really annoying for ongamenet to restrict youtube upload, though I can understand their viewpoint since they offer free streams after all.
