The reason why MMR is hidden is to hide the fact that the current ladder system is a charade, a joke.
If MMR was shown (and I agree it should be), then people would ask:
- My MMR is 2100 at the end of last season, and now that the new season has started, it still 2100, so what's the point of even having seasons given that nothing has changed?
- My points and league is lower than my friend, but my MMR is higher, so am I better than him or not?
- If I'm better than my friend because my MMR is higher, then why is my points and league lower?
It would be dangerous for Blizzard if people started asking such dangerous questions.
