500K$ seems cheap to get the amount of exposure to Samsung IMO.

Not that I watch League, but Ozone are like the Big dawgs right?

If this happens we might see a lot of Samsung(ozone) at international tournaments since they're more of a global brand than CJ/SKT/KT etc...

Surprisingly Ozone also traveled quite a bit. We just barely notice it because they only traveled within Asia and played in Chinese/Taiwanese tournaments during their off-season, mostly in showmatches stomping someone. I don't know, can you buy Hot6ix in all of Asia? Because they sometimes send these Hot6ix commercials starring MVP Ozone at Taiwanese or Chinese events.

its because Ozone is a Taiwanese peripheral brand thats trying to branch out. (hence MVP 'Ozone')

Yes, same level of play as SKT, KT, and the CJ teams. With the difference that Ozone already have their spot for S3 World Finals secured right now (based on their Spring Championship win and SKT winning the Summer season) and the other KeSPA teams still have to fight for the remaining spot amongst themselves.

I wonder if Samsung Khan is buying the MVP LoL coaching staff as well or getting their own. Gotta feel like a part of Ozone's success is due to their coaching staff..

Oh I'm sure they will. They might just put a new headmanager in charge of them. Maybe even add some additional coaching or analysts to the staff?

The should just buy out the brand, call it Samsung.MVPo or something

the purchase would include the coach right

This would be awful for MVP's SC2 team. Most of their players would definitely be cut, and Innovation has shown you don't need to go KeSPA.

Right now, the consensus would probably rate them top three in the world.

Haha but only if you put the Korean top 3 as the top 3 of the world. Which would most likely be true, but I'd see it as possible that the best Chinese team (OMG? iG? I'm bad with the Chinese) could rank amongst them.

SKT/Ozone and then take your pick of Bullets, OMG, CJ's, or even Fnatic/C9 if you want.

Yeah in my comment I just assumed that top 3 in KR right now is SKT, KT Bullets an Ozone. But I guess we will know more about that tomorrow.

Hopefully some of that Samsung money will spill over on MVP SC2, but I think not.

Looks like if they acquire SC2 squad as well, they will cut a lot of MVP players, as well as not resign other Khan players to keep the roster size manageable.

I fear the implications of the MVP SC2 squad being bought, I really, really hope that only the LoL team is acquired by Samsung. It would be sad to see most of the SC2 squad of Samsung and MVP culled and probably some players retire if Samsung acquires it.

If MVP's SC2 team is " bought " as part of the deal I imagine they would get rid of most of the players and keep the elite few for their main team. MVP sc2 is a huge team right now and I don't see why they would add 20 more players when the kespa teams are all supposedly downsizing their sc2 squads.

So basically we'll lose another sc2 team if this happens.

Samsung is so big compared to the other Kespa teams' sponsors that they could support two teams at a time to double their chances at winning proleague without breaking a sweat. But probably not happening with the state of SC2 esport (somewhat constant, not growing viewership, compared to LoL).

I'm also really interested at what they do with the DotA team, though (it's not as big as LoL, but contrary to SC2, it's growing steadily, and Valve seems to be easier to work with than blizzard, not forcing broadcasters to pay to animate their game and all that). Pretty sure they won't get that much money, but it's 5 players, not 20 like a large SC2 team.

MVP adding a Dota 2 team recently tells me they will only be picking up their LoL squads.

500k seems a bit low for the entire roster.

I don't know, 100k per player isn't bad. Seems like a 1 year salary per player being paid straight up (according to rough ballpark figures from Chobra's grilled) solely for the transfer. Should be a very good deal for Samsung with big ROI.

So ozone lose 1-3 to skt and barely win vs frost. Kt bullet on the other hand stomped frost and forcing skt in too a blindpick is ranked lower then ozone seems legit to me.

Interesting, from what I remember Samsung never invested too much in their BW team, even considering how big Samsung is they never spend more on it then STX did to my knowledge(granted STX is pretty big too). This is too good an opportunity to pass up on to though. In order to participate in the LoL Proleague they need a team and why not get the best money can buy you that is not owned by a Kespa team yet, smart move.

$500k is going to be a ton of money for MVP too, I hope they spend it wisely.

Also very much interested in the aquisition of a Dota 2 team obviously but there is not much information yet for that.

Also in b4 Samsung goes full SKT mode and MVP goes full on MBC mode.
