I could see why low ELO players would think Morgana broken, she damn good in lane and it pretty hard to not farm decently with her. Banned every game strictly because she lets bad players farm well?
Makes sense to me, any champion stupid broken when they 4k gold ahead of you. Kass poops on most mids, but a bad farmer isn't going to magically get lots of farm on him.

I got curious, so I grabbed my humble 1030 ELO friend and tested it out.
In a custom game with me and him free farming different lanes, he tallied 79 CS by the ten minute mark with Morgana. However when he was playing Kassadin he only hit 42 in the same time frame. Seems to line up with my theory. That like 800 gold every ten minutes.

I've been getting lazy because of solo q and no ranked 5s team for season 2. 
Just playing lane bullies and not paying attention to counters anymore. Good thing is I'm actually gonna crack plat in solo q if I keep it up (was plat ranked 5s in season 1, but almost missed gold solo q), but I really don't feel better at the game at all (in fact I feel worse).
Yorick/Pant top, Vlad/Leblanc mid, Graves bot. Maybe I've gotten better at dueling at low levels with superior chaps, but if you ask me that's really sad that I'm progressing in elo while regressing in skill/knowledge of counters in the lane.

Same thing here; I've basically been playing nothing but Swain lately. I don't have to think about strategy anymore. Kill mid 2-3 times, roam a bit, yell at teammates for taking Blue buff ("But you already have one!"), recieve surrender pre-25. Map awareness? Kill the ganker, run away with half health. Map objectives (other than blue)? Pssh, too much effort to rally team. At least with Lux I had to actually consider positioning. I should really be practicing jungling and bottom lane, but frankly I'm having too much fun winning.

Mord is a good mid because you just roll your head on the keyboard and push the wave to the tower. He's really boring to me but at least you'll learn how to have good map awarness because you're always in threat of being ganked as Mord.

No thats definitely not it, its one of the great mysteries of the universe why Morgana is banned at low ELO. Low ELO players cant land bindings and more importantly have no idea how to use spell shield. Morgana is shit played by a kid at 1100 ELO. If it was just because of easy farm then Sion would be banned 100% of the time, and he is far easier to play than Morgana anyway.
She is banned 100% because it somehow filtered down from high ELO that she's really strong.

I think it's just a side product of being one of the few almost retardproof mids. Sion at least takes a bit of planning to do damage in team fights. Morg you see 5 people in a group(not uncommon at all low elo), and proceed to flash > ult > collect endless QQ. Also shield trolls people who don't know how to pop it really, really hard.

It's because it takes no skill to flash, ult, and then zhonya's. At low ELO that combination is enough to win team fights by itself. Doesn't matter if you died twice mid, never land a binding, and forget to black shield yourself. You are almost definitely going to get farmed and you're always going to be useful in team fights unless you're so incredibly bad at the game that you don't even use ult or forget to zhonya's or something.

I could see why low ELO players would think Morgana broken, she damn good in lane and it pretty hard to not farm decently with her. Banned every game strictly because she lets bad players farm well? Makes sense to me, any champion stupid broken when they 4k gold ahead of you. Kass poops on most mids, but a bad farmer isn't going to magically get lots of farm on him. No thats definitely not it, its one of the great mysteries of the universe why Morgana is banned at low ELO. Low ELO players cant land bindings and more importantly have no idea how to use spell shield. Morgana is shit played by a kid at 1100 ELO. If it was just because of easy farm then Sion would be banned 100% of the time, and he is far easier to play than Morgana anyway. She is banned 100% because it somehow filtered down from high ELO that she's really strong.
I usually ban her for two reasons. The first being that she's hard to gank, and often my team's jungler won't wait for her shield to go on cooldown before using their cc spell. The second being that most of the people I play with don't really seem to understand that if a morgana comes in to use her ult then we all need to move away. Not many people are actually good at using Morgana, but it's just a pain in the ass I'd rather just avoid entirely.
Most people suck huge dick at playing Shaco, but I don't find it worth it to risk giving up Shaco to the enemy team just in case, because most people I play with don't play more conservatively to actively diminish Shaco's power.

Her ult's not THAT powerful. But she is retard-proof. She doesn't actually "win" a lot of lanes, but she doesn't "lose" any either. Her teamfighting is press R and E (Q optional). More importantly, her farming is so easy and safe that my level 7 friend, who gets maybe 50 CS at 20 minutes with other mids, consistently gets 110+ (which is admittingly pretty bad for Morg). This is a huge advantage at a level where CS is inconsistent. Being a complete item up is a pretty damn big, even if you're not using it to the maximum potential.

I'm confused, it sounds like you're saying that it's wrong to say Kassadin's a bad first pick, but that doesn't make any sense to me (Kassadin actually does seem like a terrible first pick because he's so matchup-dependent). So are you saying that this same logic is why Morgana doesn't have to be banned? That makes a lot more sense, but I feel like Morgana's counters are much softer than Kassadin's (Morgana can still get a decent amount of farm if she's in a disadvantageous lane).
