late for the skarner discussion, but i wanted to input that i feel your budget for building offensive items is about 2k gold going into the midgame. If you skip out on tankiness you are gonna start feeling it pretty badly at 3k.

I dunno about lane skarn, but out of the jungle I liked wriggles/triforce(sheen first, phage last)/GA... but this was a game with a Kennen mid and Garen top so blue buff was mine forevers if I wanted it(and I did). I could see why that wouldn't be a possible build with Kass/Zil/Aniv/etc mid wanting every blue after the 1st(even giving up the second means you probably need some kind of +mana or mp5 early, but sheen still gives that).

I'm having a really hard time against Graves. He has a ton of burst, great damage, but thanks to his passive he doesn't die in 2 seconds when focused in team fights. Plus, he can just blind and slow you and then dash away. I wish I had enough IP to buy him, but Riot can't release a fun new hero for less than 6k IP T_T

Graves is probably going to do pretty well for a few days because people aren't used to him and can't find good counters to him. Just try and play it out the best you can. Avoid his Qs and play a champion that can safely harass him (Kog, Cait, Ez).

Mah skarner thoughts:
Rageblade or Nashors (not sure which is better yet, leaning towards Rageblade)
always Merc treads

CDR kinda overrated on Skarner.
It's like building more bloodthirsters on Yi. Sure, you win if you aren't cced but you do that anyways.
I mean you can get plenty of CDR from tank items but you need tank items.
Rageblade adds much more damage to all your spells and attacks. Nashors mana regen is nice though.
Basically you're going to get one ult per teamfight, 2-3 Ws per teamfight, and 2-3 Es per teamfight no matter how much cdr/aspd you build. You're gonna mash Q a lot per teamfight but AP and AD add plenty of Q damage. More Ws and Es is not as good as more tank because you can get cced before you cast.
for hilarity late game pick up Archangels and Manamune, infinimana 300 AD 300 AP
Skarner solo pushes and farms amazingly so Mogs not bad either
Skarner is one of those build wtf you want guys.

Kinda weak in teamfights. Now actually a strong assassin though. Great ganks on anyone past river.

Cleanse > Flash/Ghost possibly.

I had no problems against a Graves with Nasus but then again my Q was hardcore farmed ^^. Wither and 2 hit him with Q huehuehue.
