Why can't you people get the fact that it's just not FUN for everyone. You need at least one year of playing to understand the game in-depth and get a clue of what the timings are, etc. Some people just don't want to go that far with a computer game.
You keep dissing the dota/cs/dow/etc players, but don't realize that most of them are ~15 year old, so they were 4 when starcraft came out. What kind of "respect" for the game do you expect from them?
And why does it surprise everyone when they say those things, most of them are pretty obvious (graphics are rather bad and most games would get boring after years of playing them). So just let it go, and come to terms with the fact that not everyone enjoys the same things that you people do.
Personally, SC stopped being fun for me to play when ICCup took over and everyone started doing the same builds that they see on MSL/OSL/PL/etc. It may be more challenging, but it's way less fun for me to play. All-out macro games are boring. I still watch the pro scene, because it does spew some fun games, but as for playing it, ICCup just seems sooooooo boring to me right now.

you cant ever explain starcraft to people..... well you can explain it to them but not explain the joy and sensations that come with it.

A lot of the people at my high school have played or still play SC. All the Koreans definitely have played lol.
(My school is like 90% Asian...)

True, but to me it's like learning an instrument. In the beginning you know know anything. But after a few years ..... :D
To me, i dont feel surprised nor do i think they are stupid, im mainly disappointed that my friends dont have the same interests, or want to learn it. Kinda similar to music instruments, too imo.

All of my friends used to play it at one point or another, even my dad and sister played so I only get the occasional "lol" from them whenever I pick it up again and play for a bit.

all my friends don't understand the intensity a sc game can give so when i'm watching a VOD or a live game they just keep asking "why are you watching this?"
it's just so entertaining for me >.<

During my last year in school we played iccup in our schools computer room. Then these good looking chicks in my class (These are the type that you normally would think that they barley could open word. Yeah I'm filled with predjuices) Anyways, they sit down to use the computer next to mine.
So they're like "haha wait a minute, isnt that starcraft? Me and my brother used to play that alot!" So I give them the iccup.zip file and they start playing with us. That was kinda fun

the usual reaction I get from SC is either "hurr durr graphics sux." (usually from underage wowfags) or "oh yeah that's a great game I used to play that"

My Mum is so totally supportive of it - eventhough it's one of the main reasons we have to live thousands of miles apart and only see each other once a year if possible. She has her own favourite players, teams and events. She's also visited several events herself during her two holidays here ^^
Most of my friends are esports people themselves and my non-esports friends appreciate the photos at least even if they can get confused by my ranting often.

I usually get the odd remark from those supreme commander, dawn of war 2 players. you know, those casual RTS gamers that cant do more than 2 things at once? They usually just say starcraft sucks without any legitimate information to back it up because all they can think of is "you can't zoom in really far, you can only select 12 units at a time, etc."
