Nah, I was raging at your ignorance. You think that everyone can afford plane tickets back home, even if they're in a different country. And their parents are poor. Or you didn't read/comprehend the very first paragraph.
Either way it made me rage.

This topic really interests me but all I wanted to say has been said in this thread.
But I really think you shouldn't be shy or paranoid about revealing your location. It would help so much more and, like others have said, maybe a TL.netter will take you in or show you around etc.
I'll be awaiting for the epic bump during the fall or late summer.

Well I'm glad you decided to make an account just to troll my suggestion that parents should be the first person he turns to. Just because someone's family is poor doesn't mean they have no ability to help. The guy didn't just walk to the states?

Dammit Hot-Bid, you posting God. I just wasted 3 hours reading everything on that site and exploring the links and related topics...really awesome though, thank you.

Wohmfg suggesting that someone's parents help them out in a difficult financial time is not an odd suggestion at all, and I have no idea why it would cause you to "rage". The OP didn't give that many details of why his parents couldn't help, just that he couldn't fly over to them.

I've liked NonY's suggestion best so far. It feels like the safest option. Find a TL.netter to help you out.

He ended up playing poker and staying with some friends for a while. Don't remember the thread or keywords in the thread to search for it but if you find it or someone knows what I'm talking about you might want to PM him for ideas. I think he even came back to TL a couple years later and made a thread about building a new computer and someone linked his old thread in there. God I've wasted so much time reading TL.net. Honestly I know so much useless things about some members on here. Could be worse thou could have been made into a mod.
Some of that sounds like me maybe, but you seem to have it all mixed up. Anyways yea, I never was actually 100% homeless. Thread titles is rough waters~ http://www.teamliquid.net/blogs/viewblog.php?topic_id=60457
from about oct-nov last year I was actually locking up at work and just using the comp there until like midnight or whatever and crashing at my gf's place. Then I moved in with my friend which is cool, but now I'm always fucking broke. I need a second job or need to follow that homeless guide which is pretty fucking awesome from what i've read so far.
It's kind of ironic, My life was happier and less stressful when I didn't have this place and all the extra money. It's like I want to have a stable place to live and all but on the other hand it feels like I'm wasting money that could have been saved/spent for other important things.
You know that feeling where you paid for something then feel like an idiot cause you could have just walked out and no one would have cared/noticed. It's like that.
PPS- I just wanted to add that craigslist and ebay are very good for selling stuff for cash and buying shit cheap.
I also read about this azn guy (maybe it was a gameshow?) where he had to only live off contests and shit. They locked him in a room and gave him magazines or something. He had to sell and win contests and make a certain amount of money to win. It was pretty crazy.
Also there is another story about a guy who started with a red paperclip and traded and bartered it over an over until he eventually got a house out of it.
Google those.

wow, that blog was amazing.
go try it and tell us what it was like

If you are looking for a place for a couple of nights you could find a couch on couchsurfing.com. If you would like to spend a longer time in one place go to http://hostandcare.com which is a community that connects students and travellers looking for free accomodations with families and seniors looking for care. You get free room and board in exchange for few hours a week of helping out. You could do tutoring, child care, senior care, home care, etc.

What was that other topic about a guy being stuck in some country? He came back okay but it was pretty epic

Not sure I like the idea of helping someone who isn't willing to help themself. That's just a plague of this world, its the same reason I don't give people a quarter to people in their change cup, it won't solve the problem as a whole. Be more responsible and get a job at fast food or something, get caught up, get a place to live and move on. Lastly I would plead not to take advantage of any resource like was mentioned for couchsurfing because that's just exploiting good natured people.

i agree. people arent born into problems, or then never come from circumstance. people who have problems are people who just dont wanna pull their socks up, buckle down, and fix them. people need to work harder.

It'd be an entry level McD job... and that's certainly something I will do. But that won't give me an apartment. Not even w/ 4 roomates. Uhh....an entry-level job will definitely allow you to afford a place to live... I mean come on, even if your post-tax wage is $4.00/hour and you work the standard 40 hours per week, you will make ~$640 a month, which is enough to afford a $2500/month apartment (if you have 4 roomates like you say) plus food and other essentials. That's a pretty nice apartment, even.
Or how about just renting a room...?
From 200-400/month

Learn to breakdance. I went on a 3 month road trip when I was 17 and found out very quickly that you can definately pull in money for food/weed by breakdancing for a couple hours.
Thank you very much mr.roboto ...
Also the stories can be priceless. Unless you suck.
