i can watch it go in both directions depending on which i want to see, also, if you can't force your brain to change directions with it, just stair at the lower foot and imagine it going the other direction and your brain should pick up

OK, so the woman... It seems like it's not really an illusion and is fake to me.
If you watch long enough, the arm/leg that she has lifted actually changes depending on what direction she is spinning.
Sometimes the right arm/leg are lifted, sometimes the left arm/leg are lifted. It's two different animations.

It all depends on the way you see it, there is no concrete left and right arms, the picture isn't spinning at all it, it's a 2-dimensional image thats shifting back and forth. http://www.theness.com/neurologicablog/index.php?p=27

lol @ the girl. I was trying so HARD to force myself to see her spinning to the left rather than to the right, but I couldn't do it.
Eventually I gave up and went to read the NeuroLogica Blog link that someone posted. The girl was spinning to the right again, then suddenly started spinning to the left as I was reading. o_O
Edit: seems like whenever the girl is at the top of the page (and I'm focusing on a spot a little bit below her) I see her spinning left, but if I look straight at ther I see her spinning right.

The reason is that it's not actually spinning at all, this link explains why you see it the way you do: http://www.theness.com/neurologicablog/index.php?p=27 That article is a very interesting read. Thanks.
At first she was spinning counter-clockwise for me, after reading that article I got her to spin both ways. I was quite easy to achieve by scrolling down (or up) to hide a part of the image and read the text on the screen, I then scrolled back up and she was spinning clockwise.
Finally, she has a nice figure. What porno is this from anyway?

Sometimes the right arm/leg are lifted, sometimes the left arm/leg are lifted. It's two different animations. You actually can control how it turns (and as a result which arm/leg is lifted). The trick (as someone already mentioned) is to stare at the foot and imagine it going the other direction, if you can successfully do that, then everything else falls into place.
The fact that you saw it change has more to do with your perception of it then the animation actually changing. My guess is that you caught site of the foot and accidentally got yourself into seeing it the other way.
Edit: shit, and to be on topic. That actually looks pretty damn cool, although it took me until the last picture (when I saw how it was supposed to stand) to realize it was a hydra.
