warning: its in german language but subtitled... and the language kinski speaks has no comprehension boundaries
Haha, Klaus Kinski rocks. I've actually heard that the indians participating in that movie (Aguirre) offered to kill Kinski and make it look like an accident, but the director Werner Herzog turned them down because he needed Kinski to finish the film. Otherwise it would've been acceptable I guess lol.

Um, calling the cinematographer a nobody is pretty ignorant. The DP is chief of crews for the lighting, the motions and the shooting of the cameras, the filtering, etc... A HUGE portion of what you get to see on the film. He makes both technical and artistic calls, and is pretty damn important. The only reason he is replaceable, is because his mug doesn't get shown in the movie. Remember, the film is 99% "other people", and 1% Christian Bale. Or even less.
Anyway, the funny thing is this: Imagine the set of the LotR movies, where Ian McKellen flips THE FUCK out, because some camera assistant, or somebody else got into his "view". Imagining it? Having a hard time? Me too... Do you think a director like Peter Jackson would tolerate such behaviour on his sets? Can you imagine what the LotR would be with synergy like that?
This is why T4 is gonna suck donkey balls, and this is what happens when you're trying to sell a movie based on a "name".
what mynock said. i think the majority of you dismissing bale's outburst as letting steam out on some flunkie camera man don't really understand the DP's position and role
I totally understand how Bale feel. I remember playing 3v3 bgh game, I was using marine killing the enemy then my noob ally burrow lurkers next to my marine and killed it.
this is kinda like when the director of 'i <3 huckabees' flipped out on that woman. now that was funny, because of the classic line "why don't you fuck your movie, because that's what you're doing!"
Don't pass judgment on this, you got an audio file of him yelling alot and calling someone a nice guy twice, that's all you got. Maybe he is a douche, maybe his rant was perfectly warranted. The DP is important, yes, but if someone "important" fucks you over more than once, the odds rise for you to get over your sissy fear of conflict and actually start yelling at him/her. And this is an actor we're talking about, his very job requires him to be emotional.
Maybe he overreacted, maybe he was perfectly warranted to chew this guy out, but all we got is an audio clip of the actual chewing out, so at least don't pass judgment on whether it was right or wrong.

i hate people who dont know shit about the subject at hand, then act like they're all high and mighty and that we professionals are taking it too seriously.
an example would be if im doing art like painting or drawing and im really into it and im in the zone and my parents call me for dinner i tell them that im doing art and will go later because the state that i am in is precious, and my parents understand that and keep out of the way.
im not saying im a fuckin professional its just that i totally understand how someone can fuckin blow up when a fucking stupid fucker comes in and fucks up something you've been working on for hours.
and no, it's not easy to just "redo the scene" because it is impossible to redo the scene exactly like it was the previous take. maybe bale was really really happy with how the scene was going and wanted to use that take but this guy fucked it up. it would be like me doing a really intricate pen drawing and someone bumps the table. happens all the fucking time and it's nearly always a non-art student because art students know what the fuck is on the line and you do NOT BUMP THE FUCKING TABLES.
i can understand why bale blew up. i dont have more specific details so im not sure if it was really warranted or not, if they talked it over or not, but i can fully understand it and i would probably do the same.
Well said, pretty much exactly what I was thinking, without the art spin on it. But I think you can relate it back to anything. I normally don't make SC analogies, but since everyone here (practically) plays it, I will.
Imagine being involved in a really intense game of SC, and someone comes in and bugs you. You're going to be irritated. Imagine they come and bother you again, and you lose the game because of them. You're going to be really pissed off at them, and probably start yelling. Are you overreacting? Maybe you are, but are you also justified to a degree? Yes, definitely. I know I've gotten pretty pissed off when people bug me during a 49-49 Halo game and someone distracts me, and I die and lose the game for my team. I'm really pissed about it if the game mattered to me.
It's really no different here.
