This is a re-post in my blog entry that will hopefully reach others who don't necessarily read blogs.

Feel free to post links to anything that can contribute not only to educational courses offered by universities and individuals, but regular hobbies as well

From Blog
Hopefully this post will point a lurker in the right direction!

The double-edged sword that is the internet gave us something amazing, free information. Though a lot use strictly the pornographic or gaming aspects of the internet (to which I have no objection) there's still a great part left, free education. Now learning things that have nothing to do with your job or your current educational studies are becoming a hobby.

One of my pet peeves is to be in the dark about something that is known to others. Here are some links to get you started on becoming autodidactic.

Go here for most of the edu resources!
Here too!

To start off here are some university funded projects:

MIT OpenCourseWare
MIT presents us with 1800 courses worth of information.

Berkley Lecture Videos <<Thanks to Sonuvbob

Great channel for math tutorials:
Khan Academy

N - If your not good at grasping information in book form, this instructor is brilliant at video tutorials of math.

Gerard 't Hooft guide to becoming a physicist:
HOW to BECOME a GOOD Theoretical Physicist

N - Includes links to instructional sites that range from statistics to particle physics.

Microbiology:

Psychology:

Languages:

Hopefully this will quench the thirst of those wishing to learn. If your tired of procrastinating and really want to broaden your horizons then pick a topic and you'll find it on the net (more than likely for free). Don't let the internet go to waste, make your choice to learn something new and do it!

Some sites to keep up on the pioneers and advancement of your interests.

If you use bittorrent, search torrent sites for TTC which is The Teaching Company, they have lectures from top level scholars on a wide variety of subjects, usually popular and seeded torrents.

I'm learning spanish. Everyone on my dad's side of the family speaks it and it's embarrassing going to family gatherings and being the only person there that can't speak it

I also might learn French too eventually since my dad gave me a French name (Jean-Paul) for no reason, which causes everyone to automatically assume I can speak the language.

Thanks to everyone who contributed to this compilation of awesome sites! I'll be using these extensively

Here's a site (from ahrara_ in the gaza thread) on international affairs, for those interested. Thought it might be a good addition to the OP.

also I'm going to pimp http://www.sparknotes.com because it is presented and written (by harvard students) absolutely brilliantly. I really enjoy reading the analysis after reading the original material. Could not recommend it enough (mostly for those who still use wikipedia)

This is an incredible tool, but it is probably very hard to understand for people who are not into neurobiology. This allows complete mapping of the brain and let's you search for pretty much everything that is know inside the brain. Big parts like the visual cortex but it also allows you to look at gene expression throughout the brain.

This is where you can download the actual brain explorer:
