Just ram all the cars you see! Bad news Bey, it wasn't mayo.
BAH. Unless you live in New Jersey, you have no right to complain about ridiculous insurance rates. My old company tried to get me to pay $9,000 on my old Spyder Eclipse when I was but a youngin (and it wasn't even in my name, I drove it sometimes) I had to pay $3,500 for a fucking 88 VOLVO and up until about a year and a half ago, was paying $6,400 for my 98 A4.
Thankfully, karma finally got the douchebags when they goofed up my insurance info, which stated that i was 35, owned a house and had been driving 40 years. I sent them the correct shit and they never updated. Fuck you, insurance.

I think we can all agree that the best solution to any hit and run accident problem is posting about it on a starcraft messageboard

I'm responding without reading the thread, so forgive me if this information has been posted already:
Repairing a hit-and-run through your insurance company should not affect your rates, but I'm not American so I could be wrong. Anyways, many insurance plans will contain an optional 'hit and run protection' or something of the sort. Basically, if you report the accident in a reasonable amount of time and follow the other rules, the insurance company will often waive the deductable (most or all) and you get your car repaired at minimal expense.
But this might not help since the hit and run occured a few days ago. Often these insurance options are only valid for something reported within 24 hours.
Anyways, the whole point is that you should contact your insurance company and see what your policy says regarding hit and runs. More than likely you'll end up paying the deductable to get your car fixed, which may or may not be worth it.

When I was 18 I was in an accident while driving home from school. A guy tried to make a difficult left and pulled right in front of me when I was doing 40 mph (the speed limit). To make a long story short, I was assessed 0 liability and it didn't affect my insurance at all. Then again my car was so old I didn't bother asking for money, I just forced the other guy to deal with his own insurance company. So did I make out reasonably well because I didn't claim for the ~100-200 dollars worth of damage on an old bomb? (keep in mind I say 'reasonably well' because I put a humongous dent into a brand new Acura and took minor damage on an old car).
