Normally in a hit and run you want to immediately file a police report. The problem is that you have no witnesses and without a witness, the police will most likely decline an investigation (especially due to the extent of the damage).
Your insurance probably has a deductible too, which means that either way you are stuck paying.
I saw one of these happen not too long ago late at night, except the car totally SMASHED the other car and just kept going. We couldn't get the plate.
I backed into someone because I'm an idiot. I sat there and thought about how easy I could drive away. Then I realized I don't want to be that guy, so I left a note. My good deed was rewarded by them not phoning.
Depending on the dent, you can try to pop it out. Or you can try heating it with a hairdryer and cooling it with dry ice or a compressed can. There's a video of someone doing this online and the dent simply pops itself out. Someone hit my car with a ladder and I was going to try this on the weekend, but the dent is so small I figured it wouldn't actually move if I tried it.

try anyway and post pics in blog so we know what happened.
For all you youngin's that have never owned a car or paid for anything yourself, here's some timeless and eternally true wisdom about cars in general, from my perspective.
Cars are money pits. On the average mid range car you will be driving between 2 and 3 grand in resale value off of it every year. That's the average. Triple that number for the first year.
You will be paying huge insurance rates, because you are a male ages 18 to 24 and you take responsibility for causing all the fatal accidents on the road, because too many of your peers are retards.
You will never win making a claim. Your premiums will ALWAYS increase more than the cost of the damages, over your career as a driver.
Gas is fucking expensive, and will continue to increase in price far in excess of inflation, for the rest of your lifetime.
What used to be a minor repair 20 years ago will now cost you thousands of dollars because there is apparently a highly expensive computer chip in your rear bumper and getting that dent out is going to require special suction tools from Japan.
Your car is a status symbol and will continue to represent your lifestyle more than any other item you own, which is ironic because the more you put into your car, the less wealth you will actually accumulate.
These truths will never change. Accept them now and move on.

You're right, someone could have bled on it from the metal on their car. Who'd have thought of it?! Your recollection abilities of things people have said on this forum are very impressive, by the way.

My dad's pissed at me for not KNOWING about it right away. WTH I don't even drive on that side. I don't take the time to look all around my car every time I drive it.
Suppose it's a blue Dodge Neon (or Chrysler, or any other company that puts its name on that exact car). There are far too many of them to pinpoint one in particular, and even if you took all the blue Neons in your area, you can't be certain that it's someone from your area. It could be any blue Neon from any state that happened to be travelling down your road at that time. There's pretty much nothing you can do except pay for the repairs yourself.
Why are you being sarcastic towards Hot_Bid?.....hes right.....
I was once the victim of a mayo-hit-and-run. Some negroids sprayed me with mayo tubes while driving by. Needless to say, I'm now mayo traumatized and whenever I see or smell mayo I get an anger outburst.

Maybe your writing is just really awful XD That's almost worse than no note at all!
While we're on the topic, insurance sucks. You pay hundreds, perhaps thousands a year and when you get into an accident you have to jump through hoops to get shit done. You might as well bank the money you're paying the insurance and save it in case you have an accident. Then again, that's illegal.

well, that not as bad as getting hit and runned while in the car by a truck, you get the trucks ID number and go report to the cops and they barely accept your charges and they tell you that unless you have another car that can witness your screwed because the truck driver can always say he didnt noticed anything.

Just ram all the cars you see!
Don't you guys like dip your french fries in that shit? Bleckh.
To Jkilla there is nothing you can do really, (give pics of the battle wound plz?) maybe just see if there is a color of their paint rubbed off and just keep your eyes peeled for cars that have matching dent/your paint on them. If its a small dent there are some tools and crap that you can buy and fix it/cover it up for cheap. Other than that it costs like 300 bucks for them to fix at a shop.
some guy did it to me about a week ago, and though i was on the phone with the cops a minute later and had identified the make and model of the car (didn't get plates) and there was significant damage and paint transfer, the cops never found him or did anything. shit happens

Proposition: Cars are a status symbol. Implied Consequent: Cars are a waste of money. Actual Consequent: Cars get you laid. Conclusion: Borrow money, buy an awesome car. Corollary: Eat ramen, buy nice clothes.
