For all the hair experts here at TL, I have a quick question about hair styling. I just started using wax to shape my hair (thanks to Panorama ) but I realized that my hair keeps dying down and was still changing shapes long after I've applied wax. I noticed that my hair's often messed up especially after riding my bike against the wind.

What should I do? When I got my haircut, the lady used hairspray and my hair didn't budge all day. I have one now but it tends to form this white "dust" after some time and doesn't hold very well.

My current hair spray that I stole from home

So I'm just wondering what kind of hair spray is useful for keeping my hairstyle fixed for the rest of the day.

This is what my hair looks like now. My hair has some leftover wax from the day before... ;;

mmm it looks like Panorama had the exact same problem
Good thing I decided to search before I posted *cowers away from haji* I just read through the thread but decided to post anyway because I'm looking for more specific advice. I'm not really looking for a gazillion other products because there are no asian markets around here so I have no idea where to get them.

Any advice is appreciated ^^

Me too.

So, can I come over to your place to watch Heroes tomorrow?

(jk, I'll probably just download it again)

By the way, I use "Dep" styling gel, strength 11 ("ultimate hold"). After applying it (to mostly-dry hair), I find holding my hair in place and using a blow-dryer yields the best results. I find the gel to be very effective at keeping my hair in generally the right shape, even for multiple days if necessary.

I'd suggest buying a small bottle at first, in case it doesn't work so well for you. I suppose you could even borrow some of mine, if you don't find that weird .

I always have problems with keeping my hair at least in a decent position. I just use a lot of styling gel. A LOT.

Gatsby Moving Rubber series. You can find it near your area probably in k-town, or c-town, but your best bet might be ebay.

*edit: Didn't read the no asian market place. You got to use some sort of wax, then hold it with hairspray. Are you spreading wax all throughout your hair from root to end? I mean, wax is pliable, you aren't going to freeze your hair in place like a helmet. Try got-2b glue hairspray from any albertson's or kroger's. I guarantee you though if you use some gatsby clay/wax, you'll have a much better hold.

lol that thread i made when i was a newb

consider getting a conditioner that is meant for increasing your hair's volume, which is something you can find in white stores too etc. you just want to avoid the 2-in-1 shampoo/conditioner deals. Getting an asian shampoo would help (they have certain oils and whatnot in them that white shampoos don't have because white and asian hair textures are diff) but not THAT necessary.

the brand of shampoo/conditioner i use is called mods hair, it's japanese. So if you happen to see that anywhere you might want to look into it. But yeah, for now an american volume conditioner should help.

(and p.s. I got over the problem by actually getting decent wax (gatsby is pretty much on the low end though their moving rubber series are now much better I think), and having my hair cut/modified a bit so that my top-sides weren't so long and heavy)

Manoi is like some sort of korean wax, and the day I got my haircut, it stayed in shape the whole day (most stylist wont use gatsby in the salon). Problem is I cant find it in the states.

Pretty much what pano said will make you good to go, however I do not conditioner that often (i do it every other day). Just get asian brands and youre set. Also its important by the type of cut you have, like if youre side heavy etc etc etc

Thanks for all your help/advice/tips guys ^__^
I'll look into these specific products next weekend when I go back home. I'll be able to go to some asian stores then. For now, I bought some random aerosol hair spray for $8 (it was 60% off ) so I'll stick with that until I find the products that were recommended in this thread.

Volume-Texturize Force Fixer

In any case, I compiled a list of items that were suggested here so I'll look for those when I go back home next weekend.

Actually that really does work, a kid I knew in high school who had this big ass mohawk used Elmers glue, he said it washed right out. His mohawk was at least 6 inches up in the eair.

You should be using a gel if harispray isn't strong enough.

I used a variety of gels when my hair was long and they all worked similarly.
