It could lead to deaths, but hopefully it would lead to ousting Putin and working on actual democratic institutions and a slow rebuilding of peace and trust with Europe, while equally slowly recovering economically. But sure, if you want to jump to the absolute worst outcome of an economic death spiral it's famine, pestilence and plague. I'm sure that that was the only outcome they had in mind when talking about screwing up the economy. | ||

As a hope towards the utterly pointless suffering Russia inflicts in Ukraine ending. | ||

To be fair, they are sending soldiers and wishing then not to die. And we are wishing for them not to be there. Basically everyone is wishing for no death. We just wish for no war. ( Somehow no war means wishing Russians to die... But yeah I haven't seen two neurons connect in prowar people of this thread) Wishes have the same value as thoughts and prayers to the Ukrainians. | ||

Weren't you the one declaring how you unequivocally support the invasion - as in the mass murder and displacement of Ukrainians - ever since Ukraine started removing elements of Russian culture (within their own country), and this was after Russians had started their mass murder campaign? To think that killing would immediately stop if Russian forces withdraw from the disputed regions is naive. A move like this will only lead to the next iteration of ethnical and political purges, like it had been in Kupyansk in autumn 2022 - local administration members killed by Azov, a number of people put to jail, including school teachers - "for complying with the occupants" and teaching in Russian language. | ||

In a more general query sense to the general thread denizens, are Ukraine kind of fucked if the White House switches parties? Add to that, while not necessarily seizing power there are quite a few European countries where parties who aren’t enthusiasts for supporting Ukrainian efforts making gains. It seems to this relatively uneducated observer that even with current commitments maintained, you’re somewhat at an interminable stalemate.
