Keep in mind all of this went down yesterday with the heaviest fighting and reported losses coming in during the night attacks and throughout the day today. The entire southern frontline is on fire with the heaviest fighting in the Orekhov direction. Active fighting lasted 13 hours with the UAF first taking a height at Russian forward positions during the morning and being repelled back by the afternoon with the area currently being a grey zone. With the clips released today that makes 74 (confirmed with visual evidence) armor losses in the last 72 hours for the UAF. As I mentioned before the soldiers doing the fighting now have much more urgent things to do with their time than film tik toks for us so the real damage being done is unknown. The UAF still has very very large reserves in the back but the forces deployed to forward attacking positions are growing exponentially every day. At this rate of losses they might only have a few more days left to make the breakthrough edit: Video also of groups of UAF infantry walking into minefields ect, bit more +18 than posting destroyed equipment and more than a bit distasteful in any case. Though I'm sure if you want to find them it won't be hard.

Even worse off is I feel the Abrams if when they get brought over to Ukraine won't fare much better unless Ukraine switches up their tactics as well. The M1's Ukraine is getting will not be M1A2's but instead M1A1's just to speed up the delivery according to the US DoD. https://www.defense.gov/News/News-Stories/Article/Article/3336826/ukrainians-to-get-us-tanks-by-fall/ Hopefully the Challenger 2's won't suffer the same type of embarrassing fate as the Leopard 2s received today.

The thing is, Russia has to defend every point of contact. If Ukraine manages to break through and create a spearhead past the current defensive line, they will likely be able to funnel much of the western trained brigades into the gap. It's going to be hard to pry open that initial hole in the lines. The lack of airpower to suppress artillery while clearing minefields is pretty key to much of the losses so far, there just isn't a fast way through prepared defenses.

We've never seen anything like this before from WW2. A combined arms offensive with both sides having time to prepare and coordinate. This is something that will take weeks to play out for the shortest result. I wouldn't trust a single bit of news to come out in the next weeks. The one Leopard that we know of being destroyed is I think the only one you can confirm. There was news of a few being taken out but that turned out to be manure spreaders. Both sides have had months or more than a year to prepare footage and pictures to push out.

This is a very healthy approach. Some of the "leaked images of destroyed Leopard tanks" have already shown to be photoshopped. The only thing we can confirm with pretty certainty is that one was destroyed, and they've otherwise lost a lot of armor and men in these past few days. Who holds what, how the attacks are going, and any reasonable estimates for both sides are going to have to be seen through beer goggles, as the people on the front have other things to do than TikTok their positions away (Phones were banned a couple of months ago if I recall correctly, in preparations for exactly this)

Mechanized attacks on fortified positions are expected to be costly. The payoff comes after you break the line and surge through. I would not be suprised to see a hundred lost vehicles or more to push through the entire defensive line. No doubt the Ukrainian army knows this to and still think they can do it.

Seems like there's no effective counter and it's a cheap and effective way at stopping ground offensives, will have to wait and see if ukraine can overcome this problem.

And people are not releasing much footage due to media silence during the offensive. Ukranian ministry of defense claims like 30 russian artillery pieces taken out every day, who knows, maybe the artillery that hit the Leopard column is already out of action by now due to counter battery fire. We don't know the picture and numbers and you really can't draw conclusions early.

Any information right now might be - intentionally false - unintentionally false - true for some short time but then everything changes In a week or so we might see actual long-term results, who has achieved what so far and what are future perspectives.

First confirmed Bradleys and a Leopard 2A6 knocked out. Also video coming in of other Leos burning and other asorted armor destroyed, will try to find a Tweet that has them all together when I get back from work. Also night video released this morning of a KA52 attack helicopter working on a UAF collumn. These events probably happened a day or two ago outside the first Russian forward positions Edit: here is the video the screenshot from the first tweet came from. Edit2: Julian made a concise write up of the losses that have surfaced today so it should all be in his twitter thread:

KyivIndependent posts daily estimates of Russian losses. https://twitter.com/KyivIndependent Brief summary (starting June 3rd) that I quickly put together from the infographics. Note: I'm only posting 3 of the more relevant categories due to time constraints. There are 12 categories for hardware and 1 for casualties. ![]()

and I don't see the purpose of only showing Ukrainian examples. Well... a few days backed I poked around on one of those twitter account's timeline and it exclusively reported Ukraine losses and Wagner's advances... and when Wagner took control of Bakhmut, called it the 'liberation of Bakhmut'. So there's that.
