You do understand that in the history of the world no one has ever bombed or conquered people into deradicalization?

What does "imposed 2 state solution" mean?

This was what Peel commission had in mind in 1937, it's what UN had in mind when they granted Israel it's statehood in 1947.

The only way that this doesn't end in complete subjugation and apartheid state for Palestinians (or worse) is for a 2 state solution to happen.

This has been the only realistic solution that is in any way, shape or form fair and gives Palestinians, a people living there for a very long time a way to actually have their own state, laws, self-governance, sovereignty and freedom.

It's the only way that Israel stops creating terrorists around itself, unfortunately, and you are right about that, Netaynahu and the Israeli right have made this impossible in the minds of Israeli people, by, among other things propping up Hamas as it is well documented.

So what you and them are actually saying is that there will be one state, it will encompass all of the Mandatory Palestine and whatever happens to Palestinians who don't like that, well, they had it coming.

That is pretty much being in support of, at the minimum ethnic clensing, through policies of apartheid, and if we are going to take the recent trends, a slow moving genocide.
So, are you a pessimist? - On my better days. Are you a nihilist? - Not as much as I should be.

I think it's pretty obvious why Nethyanahu has a bunch of voters even after all the obvious failures, his incredibly foolhardy policies towards Palestinians in West Bank and Gaza before and especially after October 7th, him getting many Israelis killed from Iranian attacks, making them feel less safe all across the world, moving IDF from Gaza border to West Bank so the settlers can be better protected then the places along the Gaza border, ignoring warnings both from foreign and his own spy agencies etc.

It's very obvious when you read all these guys here in the thread justifying every single one of those failures and just screaming "but HAMAS" and blaming Palestinians for everything.

If they are all so brainwashed and willing not only to consume all this propaganda but spread it around for (presumably) free, you can bet your sweet ass that there is a lot of Israelis who buy all of this shit hook, line and sinker.

There are many reasons why Israelis would tend to vote one way or another in the upcoming election - the Haredi draft (big one), judicial reform, traditional bread and butter economic issues, crime, Mizrachi/Sephardi/Ashkenazi divide etc.

Those issues aside, it should be noted that the electorate as a whole is broadly supportive of:

- The attacks against Iran
- The operations in Lebanon against Hezbollah
- The war against Hamas in Gaza
- Maintaining a military presence in the West Bank

Meanwhile, support for a 2-state solution is through the floor and this crosses both sets of voters.

The basic principle is this: Israelis are not going to accept terrorist groups building up on their borders anymore and they are not going to accept any type of imposed 2-state solution, at least until the Palestinians start acting responsibly, elect better leaders, and deradicalize their society.

So the big question of this next election will be about who do people trust on security. Netanyahu failed spectacularly on 10/7 and then followed it up with fairly successful operations in Lebanon and Iran. I think he gets a lot of credit for that.

I want Eisenkot to win personally because I don't want fascists in the cabinet. But if people think an Eisenkot government will be vastly different than Netanyahu as it relates to foreign policy and security I think they are fooling themselves.

It's changing the drapes at least.
I think an election where Bibbi wins could have pretty massive consequences for Israel internationally.

For example:
Swedens current right wing goverment is the most positive to Israel that we have had in a long time.
But they lost the last election to a left center coalition.
Problem is they can't form a government because the far left party requires cabinet seats and the Liberal centre party refuses to support a goverment where the far left has cabinet seats.

One of the main reason no one wants them in the government is that they are unorganised and keep having scandals. Prominently lower level politicians crossing the line with anti semitic statements and showing up on pictures with Palestinians who have questionable affiliations. So they keep having to sack these guys.

Now they need their seats so they are going to have to give the left a whole bag of carrots to keep them happy because just stick is not working.

Currently letting them anywhere near the policy on Israel is a no go for reasons above. However the general attitude to Israel in Sweden is not great, especially for the left.
Re elect Bibbi and keep people like Ben Gvir posting lunatic shit and it will implode even further.
And trust me, the media will bring it out a lot.

Suddenly the big socialist party has the general public in Sweden wanting a harder line on Israel. Their own voters in particular.
Centre party has the same attitude with their voters. Green Party is basically Greta Thunberg.

Suddenly you have a situation where it's politically almost a no brainer for your voters and a big juicy carrot to the far left to let them have considerable influence on the policy towards Israel. Instead of having to buy them out with other expensive monetary reforms.

It's just one plausible scenario but I feel there are a lot countries in Europe in similar a situation where a harder stance on Israel is becoming more expediant from a domestic point of view. And there is safety in numbers too because the diplomatic blowback from the US is lessened when everyone is doing it.
Unity, support, family, and kneecapping bitches.

I think you misunderstand me. I agree with you that two states is the only practical solution.

I was simply trying to illustrate where Israeli public opinion is right now and why an Eisenkot won’t differ dramatically from Netanyahu when it comes to these issues.
