I would read that. Thank you for your kind words. I doubt I'd ever take the time to do that but I appreciate it all the same.
Once you have a basic understanding of monetary theory it's clear why Trump was throwing gasoline on a fire against the protestations of everyone around him.

So the Trump voters who are angry at Kamala and Democrats are really just angry with their inner Kamala/Democrat?

Once you have a basic understanding of monetary theory it's clear why Trump was throwing gasoline on a fire against the protestations of everyone around him. I’d reiterate Ender’s sentiment, if you ever could be arsed I’d definitely give that a read. Definitely helped shore up some of my own understanding, I’m far weaker on economic nuts and bolts than the other parts of the PPE pie.
Returning briefly to a post way back, re inflation and the results the Biden administration got versus well, most comparable economies still being insufficient for some voters.
My intuition is a pretty resounding no when it comes to the ballot box, but can a politician articulate some kind of ‘Actually this stuff is mostly out of my control actually, but I’ll do my best’
I think it’s even less likely to land in the US given the perception many voters naturally get from it being at superpower status.
I’m not sure, I think that influences things. Inflation is certainly a big issue over here in the UK too, but from my anecdotal experiences it feels many have parsed it as a kind of inevitable storm to be weathered due to the Covid/Ukraine 1-2 punch, and there are better ways to mitigate it or not, but it’s kind of an inevitability.

UK inflation is a different kind of problem due to how much the UK imports. The US is the biggest oil producer in the world and the costs involved are largely denominated in dollars. There's not much in the way of exchange rate fluctuation there. Whereas if the UK does everything right domestically but the pound declines then you're going to see pretty significant real cost increases for anything that involves foreign goods or labour which is everything.
Lettuce took the pound behind the bike racks and beat it with a shovel.

I’m alright with calling it out as absolute fucking nonsense.
I’m happy not subsuming my values to not placate a bunch of arseholes and their snowflake sensibilities for not owning the consequences of their views.
Hey, I’m not happy with the result, on a personal level I’m content enough.

Ok… that’s pretty on brand from Trump. Hardly incoherent. Once again this just reinforces my point. Trump gets up and talks off the cuff for hours on end and tweets every thought that comes through his mind. If Biden goes off script for 2 minutes it’s a disaster. It’s not incoherent, it’s deranged. You lost the presidency, the senate, the house, and the supreme court. You're losing the culture war and don't really even appear to understand why. Instead of listening, as you so evidently should, you continue to lecture. Who's deranged? The old man yelling about how he hates flies is the deranged one. "If you hate a person, you hate something in him that is part of yourself. What isn't part of ourselves doesn't disturb us." -Hermann Hesse The derangement around Trump is like 90% shadow projection. You're all just shadow boxing with your own inner tyrant imo. So the Trump voters who are angry at Kamala and Democrats are really just angry with their inner Kamala/Democrat? And what is 100% not a part of you so you are not disturbed by it? That kind of quotes are only good for making people angry. That quote has infinitely more to do with why a Trumper bristles at being called racist than it does with why reasonable people are upset with the Right's fascism.
Incorrect. If you're reacting to something inside of you then you aren't actually responsive to what is outside of you, youre just shadow boxing and that's the difference. I don't see the same derangement among conservatives on any level, people very reasonably don't want to live under socialism.
The derangement around Trump has been next level. When you foam at the mouth about him being a nazi, Hitler, a fascist, and a tyrant (particularly as you try to force a vaccine on others, and exlude those from society who refuse) it is quite clear that you are just shadow boxing. When you have a stroke about racism and all the rest of it, while accusing black men who voted for Trump of x, y, and z, it's clear you're just shadow boxing.
The dems accused Trump of trying to overturn an election because he wanted a suspect result scrutinized. They're only articulating who they are inside. If I'm correct (I am), we will see dems advocate for not handing over power in the coming weeks. We've already seen such an intimation on the past couple pages of the current discussion.

So, if I were to punch you in the face, would you get angry? If so, are you angry because of something inside of you, or maybe because i punched you in the face? Is it really impossible for something outside of you to influence you? In that case, i guess i can congratulate you for winning at buddhism and achieving Nirvana.
I will not even start to try to react to the remainder of your post. Basically every single word in there is so incredibly incorrect that it would require more effort than i am currently willing to put into this to react.

You have a gift for explaining difficult economic concepts in a way that a non-expert can understand. You should consider collecting all the posts you've made over the years and turn them into a simple document.
I would read that. Thank you for your kind words. I doubt I'd ever take the time to do that but I appreciate it all the same. Once you have a basic understanding of monetary theory it's clear why Trump was throwing gasoline on a fire against the protestations of everyone around him. My intuition is a pretty resounding no when it comes to the ballot box, but can a politician articulate some kind of ‘Actually this stuff is mostly out of my control actually, but I’ll do my best’ I think it’s even less likely to land in the US given the perception many voters naturally get from it being at superpower status. Aye that makes sense economically, I’m just curious as to the politics of it.
I think we’ve certain delusions of grandeur (see Brexit), but I think there’s at least some grudging acceptance that we’re not immune to more global trends.
Whereas American voters seem to have less of that.
I don’t think the average British person is particularly more knowledgable, or indeed considers themself so on global macroeconomic trends than the average American.
But there does seem some difference in terms of how that manifests. In the UK a kind of grudging acceptance we’d have to eat shit for a while, on inflation specifically, whereas the US seem to have some idea they can bend it to their will.

These aren’t the positions of a serious person. The Dems accused Trump of trying to overturning an election because he tried to pressure his VP not to certify it, asked other electors to find votes and sicced a mob on the Capitol. He still hasn’t actually admitted he lost that election.
Even his own party agreed with that assessment until they found their balls departed them when it came to do anything about it.
Enjoy the Trump era for the next bit. His platform won fairly, I find it incredibly depressing but notably I haven’t cast aspersions on the legitimacy of the voting, or advocated some coup attempt.
My American brethren who actually have to live in a state with Trump as its executive leader also haven’t cast aspersions on the election, or proposed some kind of coup.
The concept of projection has some legitimacy, but your ilk have adopted it as a mantra to cover their arse.
‘Dems are only mad about Trump’s anti-democratic coup attempt because they want to do it themselves’
Except, they don’t.

The dems accused Trump of trying to overturn an election because he wanted a suspect result scrutinized. They're only articulating who they are inside. If I'm correct (I am), we will see dems advocate for not handing over power in the coming weeks. We've already seen such an intimation on the past couple page of the current discussion. Trump just wanted a suspect result scrutinized? The dude incited an actual insurrection. That is not 'just looking at a suspect result'. But sure, its the derangement around Trump, not your utter denial of reality...
No, no he didn't. Do you think the Canadian trucker protest was also an insurrection, just curious? It was in front of the parliament buildings. They got called Nazis too btw, by the people who fight so tirelessly for inclusion.
Seems like a memetic literal concrete comprehension which believes that a protest outside a government building makes it an insurrection, as though we're still living in the 4th century BCE, and not the information age.
Guess when he told them to go home after 2 hours that was a typo, it was meant to read "send them to Bergen Belsen."

It is like a parent claiming "you are only fighting because you are so alike". The quote is a perfectly reasonable one, just completely ripped from what it’s meant to actually describe Correct. What in the name of fuck are you talking about? Honestly I've never seen 'introduction to psychology' so ridiculously badly understood in my life, and I would know because I took that class when I was 11 years old and everyone understood it fine. It’s an almost breathtaking level of bullshit that I’d enjoy if it was part of some associated standup comedy routine
