But people feel like Biden did poorly and Trump did well. There’s simply no evidence for it.

This is what causes my depression.. the people voted against their interest because a orange sphincter painted the incumbent as symbol of high prices.. and in all their stupididity the Dems again thought a Waltz-Teddybear and a based women of color would be enough to make people connect the dots.. they werent.

Voters weren't informed enough that other countries failed, where Biden admin succeeded, and that Harris indeed has some idea of where inflation comes from.

It's corporate fucking greed that is driving the prices.. there is no big crank in the oval office that biden is yanking hard on.

Contrast:
It's now 2 years of germany going cold turkey on russian gas, our biggest energy import apart from crude , and german government is still unable to wake up the economy, because there is a 3 party government that was fighting from day one.
One party strictly doesn't want new debt, one striclty wants to follow pipe dreams of clean energy and CO2 minimization - no matter the cost - and socialist party (of the well paid union worker) isn't doing anything.

If the government breaks up, you can vote for the conservatives, that funneld money into their own pockets during covid.. and let the country live off it's substance for the majority of their ruling since the wall came down.
Or a party of former GDR populists.. or the party of Neonazis..that also have a hang for putin.

SAD!

There are at least 1 million people missing in crucial jobs, Teachers, Educators, Police, doctors.. and most of all..fresh personal for the ancient bureaucracy. There are literally court clerks that HIDE files in the basement because they can't keep up with the workload - letting rapists go free because they slipped when postponing a court date.

It takes 8 years for the local governments to process the permission to build a wind turbine.

They didn't vote against their interests. You don't know what their interests are. There is not an objective "interest." They voted for their interests because voting is fundamentally not a masochistic act.

The number one issue for Republicans was the economy.

Trump is objectively worse for the economy than Biden/Harris.

Therefore, yes, a large number of Trump voters voted against their primary interest.

In other news:

I'd wish Biden would go totally unhinged and prevent Trumpsters like Elon and Thiel from a future government role.

Or even put Judge Cannon in jail for obstruction and have all the Trump trials with a sentence before having to leave office.

We've addressed your misguided use of syllogisms before buddy.

People wanting the economy to be good means they want it to be good in a way that affects them.

Not in the sense that you increase GDP by 0.5% by crippling all public services by inundating them with illegal immigrants.

Or balloon the stock market for Nancy Pelosi while native Americans net lose jobs.

Thank you for this. I had a quick look and found a much more recent study than the one you quoted from 2009, which only included 20 datasets. The more modern one concludes that 2.9% (95% CI 2.1–3.8%) of researchers are likely guilty of falsification, fabrication or plagiarism. This is very straightforward to unpack, 97% of researchers do not falsify or fabricate their datasets. That's a healthy number, wouldn't you agree?

The COVID vaccine was developed quickly because all the scientists in the world literally went "right, we gotta solve this or we die". It was a massive collaborative effort and a testament to what can be achieved when you put all of the world's smartest people working on the same problem.

You can now link prothesis to your brain using your own neural system. I find the stuff we can do nowadays pretty incredible.

I am just going to disagree with you about the chatbot. I find it near miraculous that a chatbot is better at finding bugs in code than my PhD students. Whether it was easy to train or not is not really relevant to this outcome.

I'd grant you the vaccine thing if every pharma company did it with 100% transparancy. Don't think they did so though.
Brain machine interfaces already exist for many years.
Chatbot: I'm more pro than contra, but now the hype died down and many people shared their insights, I've adjusted my expectations accordingly.

As for roughly 3%. That's people admitting to fraud. That doesn't include people making mistakes and getting away with it. If you want science to accurately represent reality, you can't really get away with, oh but 3% of reality is made up because it fed my agenda. I don't like that number at all. Reasonably we can't expect 100%, I get that, but I think we could also expect an empirical process devoid of ideology or power or clout.

What hope was there with the Democrats anyway? Ooh I really hope everything stays kinda shit.

If anything, the Dems campaign was the campaign of fear. Uuuu, scary orange man is coming for you, vote for us or else...!

Don't get me wrong, Trump is a piece of shit and Reps + Trump is almost guaranteed to be worse for the next 4 years than Dems + Harris, but the entirety of Democrat campaign has been a shitshow and it's no surprise at all to me that people didn't want to vote for them. I mean, it's not as if Trump suddenly got a huge surge of supporters -- Harris simply didn't get nearly as many votes as Biden did.

While numbers aren't fully in yet, Trump is 3 million behind 2020 with 13% left to count. Seems likely he'll end up nearly 5 mill above 2020 (California being the biggest source of non-counted votes so far). But yeah Kamala is ending up way behind Biden, if we boost her numbers by 13% she's still like 8 mill behind Biden.

What have I delegitimized? Are Republicans, with their landslide victory, the real victims here, yet again? Their positions will become the law of the land for at least a generation, they could not be more legitimized at this point.

What do you mean? Surely, plenty of Republicans were sincere in their incorrect belief that Trump would be better for the economy (as oBlade accidentally outlined, as he misrepresented GDP above and has misstated future economic plans for Harris vs. Trump in previous posts), but there are probably a bunch of voters (regardless of political affiliation) who are susceptible to social desirability bias (response bias) who will lie when being surveyed.

Republicans come out with an explosive victory on all fronts and still they have to bitch about Democrats being mean to them. You have no problems right now. Get over it and enjoy your win.

If your main focus is how you get paid, and what you pay for groceries and rent.. voting for the party that will use their power to annihilate worker and tennant rights and not only protect corporations from fair prices..in favor of fat profits.. but will give them and their owners a tax cut .. which is compensated by a trump sales tax..or border tarif ...

--> clearly looks like voting against their interest.<----

It's like people on the boats in "Jaws" suddenly rooting for the shark because they are unhappy with their skipper's performance.

Because you said that GDP increased by 0.5% when it actually increased by 12.6%.

From one week ago:

As today’s release marks the final new quarter of GDP data to be released during the Biden-Harris administration, CEA wanted to review this important indicator’s record over the President’s term.[1] Along with a strong showing for Q3—real GDP increased at an annual rate of 2.8% in the quarter—we summarize the Biden-Harris administration’s economic growth record as follows:

Cumulatively, real GDP rose 12.6% since 2020Q4 during the Biden-Harris administration, a historically robust expansion.
