Let's see what happens next. Maybe he can just deny the president fired him and keep working. If Barr (or Trump) wants to get ahead they will likely need to take it to court. And even then it might run into trouble that the district can simply immediately reappoint him unless Trump can get someone through the Senate as a permanent replacement. All in all it is yet another clusterfuck where Barr appears to be attacking the judiciary in trying to shut down investigations. A thing that would 'normally' be massive news and is now just another friday.

Trump said the judge was “very powerful in his statements on classified information and very powerful also on the fact that the country will get the money – any money he makes. So I hope a lot of books – uh, well, I probably shouldn’t hope that but whatever he makes, he’s going to be giving back. I had a good chuckle at that part :-)

If we are on the recent few weeks being awful for Trump, imagine how much worse it could get if the Supreme Court rules against him on the tax filings cases soon.

If Trump says he is directly doing it, then it becomes a tossup - the logical reading of the situation is that Trump can fire him, but he can't replace him without a Senate confirmed replacement already lined up. As he was court appointed, rather than by president or Senate. That makes no goddamn sense - there has to be someone in charge. But some courts are fine with situations that are incoherent as long as they meet the legal wording.

There is so much going on right now and none of it seems good for trump. Someone wrote an article somewhere that Graham operates like a parasite where he takes the form of whatever is in popular power. It does make sense, in my recent memory he went from compassionate conservative to maverick to one of the biggest Trump supporters in the senate. In all of his transitions, he has basically thrown the previous form and everyone associated with it in the bin. Perhaps he’s seeing the winds change in 2020? Biden is not the best candidate but he’s also not HRC nor is Trump able to get away with convincing liberals or those further left that he has a progressive streak.

I guess Trump's more sensitive about rally size but even this weak turnout is bigger than anything Biden's drawn (without a pandemic) so I don't think it's really going to hit his ego in the long run. He's pretty bent up about the ramp thing and drinking like a toddler without fine motor control though

It is so incredibly odd that Trump’s machismo appeals to people but that’s pretty standard fair when it comes to his type of leader. Also nice of him to admit that he’s purposely suppressing coronavirus testing. We already knew that but it’s good to get confirmation.
