I had just woken up after a rough nights sleep and was feeling groggy as hell. I still am. Imagine all the effects of being drunk without the buzz, that's how I felt. I knew I wasn't up for playing Starcraft, to be honest I can barely type (but I can correct), but I tried anyway. After spending a few minutes staring blankly at the screen wondering what was going on I eventually managed to hit join and found a random 1v1. The guy hosting was a D with 0-2 stats. I was C+ with a 2:1 ratio and nearing B-. The game was going reasonably well until I moved all my goons into his base, losing 12 to a minefield without getting a kill. In my early morning madness it had seemed like a good idea. As the game progressed he did a slow advance and managed to lock a contain onto me. Eventually I realised that I was losing. I was shocked. He was a noob. I thought "this is wrong", "i don't deserve to lose this", "he got lucky", "if I could actually think I'd own him". And then it happened. I considered discing. The guy was Korean and had very, very bad English. He'd not be able to report it. Abyss has a terrible system, I'd get away with it. It would be like the game never happened. The more I thought about it the more right it seemed. He didn't deserve the points, I did. He got lucky. And then a part of me revolted against this. Something said it's not right. A part of me said "is this all you're worth?". All my integrity, all my pride, to be sold for 150 abyss points? I have never hacked and I doubt I ever shall. Partly because I started gaming when hacking itself was in decline and the "everyone does it" argument didn't stand. And yet here I was, offering myself for 150 points on a ladder. The idea of it shocked me. I was amazed I'd considered it. Sure, no-one would know. The guy couldn't speak english, it would be like the game had never happened. But I would know, I would know that everything I'd ever said on the subject of fair gaming was shit. Because I'd placed 150 points over by own integrity. To this Korean, I represented the non Korean scene. My actions spoke for everyone. I said gg and left with my soul intact. | ||

yay. Also got sooo much worse at bw over 2 days period. Amazing. I also secretly wish I was black and assimilated with hip hop culture, instead of an Asian who loves every hateful, powerful form of metal and classic rock. | ||
