Sure it hits better, but it seems like overkill to me. Its the same as buying any other high-level product really, sure it may not be that much better than a cheaper product. But it is better either way. If cleaned and maintained properly it will be the last bong you buy. If you plan to smoke weed for the next year or two, or in the case of many; indefinitely you owe it yourself to pick up a quality brand name bong. At the very least an $80 mid-range one, but RooR is the best by far (Amazing models from $150 to $300, you only have to go over $300 when you start to get into partial or full custom features [or add-ons like charcoal filter, ash catcher, etc. - of course if you get some quality bong cleaner or 99.9% rubbing alcohol and some hot water those add-ons are largely unnecessary, but again they improve smoking experience]).
Okay since you've bought into the whole RooR crap, allow me to break this down for you:
Bongs come in tiers:
T1: Water bottle with a tube and tin foil stuck into it.
T2: $10 convenience store bong.
T3: $40 Double chamber bubblers.
T4: $100 "midrange" product that has everything a Roor would have: double chamber, a quality diffuser, long tubing, decent glass thickness.
T4.00001: $300 "high-end" RooR, with everything in T4 plus a RooR logo.
Get my point?
I've hit all kinds of bongs, and any money spent on a RooR is wasted because there is GUARANTEED to be a product that's 50% the price which delivers the exact same hit.

What's actually funny is RooR is notorious is the "underground" glass culture for being TERRIBLE tubes. Seriously, I have a friend who wouldn't hit a RooR out of principle since he has a wonderful stupidly thick US Tubes Tube with a perc in it, and an quartz pad oil rig on a smaller US Tubes, which is still stupidly thick. We also had a Toro with a disk diffuser (best I've ever smoked) and a massive bong/bub named "The Lady" which is a big straight tube with a bowl on the top that you can pull out, going down a large stem to a shower head (it has over 40 holes in a bulb kind of thing to diffuse the smoke hella good) You can milk that thing solid and pull, you won't notice till a few seconds later when all of a sudden you realize you took a hit about 5x bigger than what you felt.
Quality glass does make a difference folks, a perfectly crafted tube with amazing percs on it makes smoking out of a 50$ bong look like using a Gatorade bottle.
Toro makes actually good tubes, as does US Tubes, though the real deals are from the artists themselves.
What you want to do is look around at different artists individual work, see one with a style you like a great deal, and pay him directly to make you something. That way you spend a little less than if you went to the shop that they sell their pieces too, but you still get a one of a kind work of art that you will use on a (near) daily basis for years to come.
I can't wait till I can drop 300$ on a salt pipe.

No, I just found that picture in the Toro appreciation thread over on Tokecity. My buddy is the one with a couple really fancy things. He is also learning how to make pieces with a torch and he's made crazy progress in the few months he's been working. Give it a good while, 4 or 6 months or so, and he'll be making fully worked bossed the fuck out pipes and such.

I can't really tell the difference between tubes to be honest. I find that better downstems for bongs make them hit much better imo. A lot of my friends had shitty downstems (non diffused) on their huge prize bongs, and while it was fine, once we put in real nice downstems in, they hit so much better.
Those bubblers look ridiculous though. I would definitely drop some $ for those.
What I've been interested in lately are inline bongs. They look so sick.
