What do you guys think about passive intake? Do I need to be able to adjust the air hood with respect to the size of the plant or can I Just keep it at the top of the grow space the entire time? Or do I need to keep it up at 40" from the soil the entire time or something like that? Will an HPS air hood also support CFLs? I'm confused as to how air hoods work; if I can switch out CFLs and HPS lightbulbs in the same hood. Ballast regulates current through your lamp. All HID and fluorescent bulbs require a ballast. CFL bulbs almost always integrate the ballast into the lamp if it is a ED27 base bulb, such as household incandescent replacements. https://secure.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/wiki/Electrical_ballastThe setup you drew looks pretty good, of course details will change depending on the cabinet and dimensions of the various components. It is best to fix the reflector as high as possible and simply sit the pots on little stools or blocks. Remove blocks as the plants grow. Don't forget to top them, this causes Use rigid ducting if possible to minimize pressure loss and noise. If you must use flexible duct, make sure it is stretched and is as short as possible to make it smooth inside. Do not have loose floppy duct hanging around, its annoying as fuck and highly inefficient. For bulb compatibility consider these things: - Ballast ANSI code matches - Socket: mogul for high power bulbs, or medium base aka ED27 for little guys - Interior reflector dimensions Thanks. The bulb info is very useful. I didn't draw that pic btw, I found it on google. The Red lines connecting the exhaust exit to air hood and the fan to the air hood represent ducting right? btw i think this sentence is cut off lol
Lol sorry I was on the phone and forgot to finish that sentence.
The red lines do represent ducting. If your reflector is poorly sealed, then put the blower output on the intake of the reflector and connect the reflector exhaust to the outside. Hot air will seep out of the reflector, but stinky air won't bypass the filter by getting sucked into the reflector.

Cool, that makes sense :}
I just read on GC that: "MH lights are used for the vegetation cycle & HPS are used for the flowering cycle, all though HPS can be used for the entire grow cycle"
You can use HPS for the entire grow? How does that work? Unforunately the post I found it on doesn't go into any more detail.
If this is inaccurate, should I skip the CFLs and just alternate between MH lights and HPS lights seeing that they fit in the same socket (mogul)? Or HPS works for the entire grow, why would anyone cycle MH+HPS bulbs? o_O
edit: im still unclear as what the ballast actually is. is it the powerbrick that runs on the cord between your air cooled reflector and the wall? sorry i'm kinda retarded

HPS for flowering is more important than MH for veg, so when people only buy one they purchase the HPS. The entire grow can be done with HPS but it's not ideal. An MH will outperform CFLs or an HPS during vegetative growth.

You can do any of the three options but MH+HPS would be the best if cost isn't an issue.

Yes.

Cool, i'll definitely get MH+HPS :}
Looking at this diagram again: + Show Spoiler +
Would I need two inline fans? (one for the carbon filter and one for exhausting the heat from reflector)
I don't understand why there is a line connecting the Fan to the hood in the diagram. In the Cool Tube I posted above I only see one open end to allow for ducting It doesn't look like i can circulate the air through the carbon filter > to the reflector > and then to the inline blower that leads outside
edit: Or maybe I need to be looking into something like this http://htgsupply.com/viewproduct.asp?productID=48150
How good are EasyCool's? Worth the money? I'm assuming installing a 5KV pulse rated socket myself is easy

dude how could you even support paying for 100 joints a day? unless ur smoking schwag. if thats the case, ur def gona die lol :|

You keep going on about smoking hemp packets. If you're serious, then "you're doing it wrong".
If you smoke any substance at 100 joints a day you will be doing massive damage to your lungs.

just bought an 1/8 of ak47. This shit is goooooooooooood!

Yo Lefnui + Zealotdriver, should I use the CoolTube or the EasyCool? Is there a glass sheet on the Easycool that seperates the bulb and the plant? (that way the air coming from the carbon filter into the reflector does not go back into the plant, since it is trapped by glass, and so the heat of the bulb cannot escape the inline blower on the exhaust exit)
|
It seems like the general consensus is to go with the Cool Tube in such a situation because it will keep temps down the best, and that's a major concern in a small, enclosed space.
There should not be air coming in that has passed through the carbon filter, although it would be harmless. The carbon filter is attached to the exhaust vent with the exhaust fan pulling air out from the reflector in order to remove heat. Didn't Zealot tell you to just use a passive intake?
|
do people actually go on their computer, double click their browser, type in teamliquid.net or hit a bookmark button[ if teamliquid isnt their homepage], click on the general forum then find the "High Thread" or search for it, then reply in it?
really? what a waste of weed.

yes I'm sure people get high for the sole intention of posting in this thread....

Smoke weed everydaaaay. A bowl before work, a bowl on lunch, a bowl before and after dinner, a few more thru out the night...yeeeeaaah!

which part of that are you wasting weed?

i believe he is either a cute amateur mj smoker or a nonsmoker who thinks that whenever a person gets high they must be out doing activities with their friends.

So, what's on the other end of the Cool tube?
Right now, your explanation looks like this to me:
