He's still an excellent match player who's very hard to beat, but in a tournament like the candidates you actually need to win games. Aronian vs Carlsen would be an extremely fun match, but Aronian's really inconsistent. If he manages to play his best he can definitely has a chance vs Carlsen though. The same goes for Karjakin. Kramnik's still a beast and this is probably his last shot at becoming WC again. My darkhose pick would be Andreikin. The guy's really good, hell, he's beaten Kramnik like 3 times recently. I don't think the others have a real shot, but who knows. Svidler already surprised me at the last candidates. It's a shame we won't have Caruana or Naka there, they really belong there. Next year I hope. everyone is inconsistent compared to Carlsen that is his biggest, Karpovian strength. I really don't think Andreikin can pull it off. I don't know him, but it just seems like he's the statistical noise of the World Cup knockout format, I don't think he'll be able to win a tournament of this caliber. You can never ever count out these old foxes Anand, Kramnik and Svidler, but somehow I just don't feel them (even though Kramnik was playing some of the best chess the World has ever seen in the previous candidates tournament). I personally dislike Topalov and especially Mamedyarov, so I just outright don't want them to win at all, thankfully they don't stand a chance. Karjakin is great, so humble and such a fantastic talent, he'll always be a contender but somehow he just doesn't strike me as a winner (kind of like Leko, Svidler, Grischuk or Ivanchuck; amazing players chess wise and in general great personalities, just not really tough/dominant or whatever enough to be champion). So that leaves the obvious choice, Aronian He has the best chance vs Carlsen, for sure... But he won't win. Seriously, I don't think anyone will take down Carlsen for a while. My best bet is perhaps Caruana, if he can continue his steady, quiet development for a couple more years. Nakamura's ego just gets in the way too much and he already has psychological scars regarding being a champion that might be hard to shrug off (remember how Ponomariov got lost in the top 100 instead of being world champion?). But let's hope I'm wrong, because I like Aronian much more than I do Carlsen.

Best idea ever, this is a good resource for someone like me who's just interested from time to time. Without TL I wouldn't have noticed the world championship either.

Remembers me of the Candidates Tournament 2013. I think he lost five or six games on time alone, it was ridiculous.
