Yeah he was saying what he was doing but I doubt that had anything to do with their movements, probably only his hand-moves. In an other show (again, Japanese, heh) they were using rotating images to make the fish swim in one direction, so I guess it's what the fish see that makes them move in a particular pattern.

3 out of 7 of your "useless" japanese inventions are actually pretty damn useful and I would unashamedly use of any these.

the umbrella tube seems usefull and the butter stick, the other ones are pretty useless imo. especially the fan on chopsticks...i'm an avid eater of ramen/noodles/spaghetti and although they can be very very hot, i don't need a fan hangin on my freakin chopsticks or fork to eat it. A few blows on it and its ready to burn my mouth. Seems like it would blow dirt on it or something, and u'd have to keep that fan clean as fuck..

I wish i could make goldfish do that. I would have billions of my goldfish army to stop the shipping lanes and demand payment by the worlds leaders. When they didn't pay it would be war. War on a scale never seen before by humanity or goldfish kind. And i would be the ruler for all eternity with my giant city of Atlantis 2 and my throne built out of the stupidity of people banned on TL.net. It would be a huge throne.

More like 3 seconds i believe. And i dont think the movement has anything to do with memory, i'm guessing they follow an image or signal or something.

you even say yourself "...a few blows..." well genius,
guess what the use of the fan is? to add flavour to your noodles? to clean them?
also would you rather rest your chin on something, allowing your body to almost completely relax, or to hold your arm up in the air??
you can't be very comfortable holding onto something, why not have something hold on to you?? the woman in the picture looks like she is practically sleeping you can also use the chin rest as a hand rest if your going to be that awkward, how can something which tbh doesn't look like it's going to cost anything more than the standard help-you-stand-things be useless when it allows more variety with how it is used?

S) I don't need a fan hangin on my freakin chopsticks or fork to eat it.
E) You don't need "freakin chopsticks" or a "fork" to eat your noodless at all.

That street-sweeping contraption looks more Chinese than Japanese. Don't you think the Japanese would, if at all, invent a 100 ft robot with laser eyes that burn the dirt right off the street (together with any and all gaijin, but that's part of the charm)?

Some clever guy please advise me on my usage of parentheses, somehow the last sentence doesn't feel right.

Seems like just a conditioned response to me (probably took forever)... I used to have a terrarium, and had a bunch of guppies (like 40 or so)... and every day when I went to feed them, I would take the fish food can and tap it on the side of the glass, and a few seconds later, throw some flakes in. At first of course they would run away, but after like a week or two, I would tap the glass with it, and they all instantly go to the surface and start trying to eat before I even put the food in. I could miss a day or two and they'd still "remember" just fine.
