They played C4 on board 2 when he had asked for it on board 3 in the first moves, but I guess he understood their mistake when black moved again on board 2 with C5. Sound probably wasn't as good for him too. Still fun. | ||

The tourney I'm making is 3 days/move using Chess.com. This doesn't stop no-shows either, but at least the people who keep showing up will be able to play and move on to the next rounds and so on and the websites manages that instead of a human, so that's convenient. The tournament has been hosted: http://www.chess.com/tournament/tlchess-closed-tourney-4 Invites have gone out to all Teamliquid Chess.com group members. However, I did get there in a rather lame way by only playing the Goring/Danish gambit versus 1. ... e5 and playing 2. f4 vs 1. ... c5 as white, while playing only 1.Nf3 openings as black. I want to expand my repertoire of openings, but I tend to avoid the more common lines as I assume that people study those openings and are prepared for them. Any suggestions as to what I should study next? If anyone is up for a couple games on chess.com, add imBLIND. | ||

Even in popular openings, people run out of book in 7~8 moves. If you want to expand your repertoire, I would recommend some mainlines such as Ruy Lopez, Italian, or Scotch. And I assume you mean 1...Nf6 as Black? | ||

Playing against 1...b6 always ticks me off cause I keep thinking the black player is gonna hedgehog his way to victory lol. | ||

Just focus on getting your pieces developed and getting a playable middlegame. | ||

Other than a total calamity for either side, obviously. which happens all the way up and down the spectrum anyway. if you play tactically aware chess in blitz you will get a high rating, even if your openings are abysmal. | ||
