It is estimated that 24% of men and 36% of women have had a rape fantasy, and 10% of women report this is their favorite type of fantasy that's 1 in 10.. and that's just fantasies. that's nothing to do with entertainment. people don't like shooting themselves in the arm but you see it in horror movies and gangsta films and westerns all day. not to mention video games, where that's basically what you DO. i once posed the question, since games are increasingly interactive : would you rape someone in a game like GTA, where you can already steal a woman's car and blugeon her to death with a shovel? remember, rape is basically sexual desire + no morals. isn't it? Yes, many girls experience sexual interaction at a young age, and yes they can understand the concept of forced sex. But why does that make it alright for them to experience that concept beyond the level of mere understanding? Why would we want them to watch it happen, or to watch it happen ourselves? A five year old understands the concept of death, but would we want them to witness a murder? If the director feels it is important to tell the story of a 12 year old who is horrifically abused, so be it, but he can do it without letting millions of people into that bedroom to explicitly watch it take place. Saying that we should be able to watch rape or even simulate it in a video game simply because we can do so with other forms of violent crime is just ridiculous. We already have it bad, so why shouldn't we make it worse? C'mon. As far as rape fantasies...if that many people actually do already think about rape as a positive experience, why perpetuate it by putting a child into the already-existing picture in their head? And, what's more, even if those statistics are correct, I'd like to see a fucking survey of RAPE VICTIMS who have such "rape fantasies." I think the results might be slightly different, unless you count horrific flashbacks and detrimental effects on the psyche or current intimacy as "fantasies." remember, rape is basically sexual desire + no morals. isn't it? No, rape is much, much more than that. It is a declaration of domination over someone by forcing them to act in an intimate manner unwillingly. It is the theft of a person's choice, freedom, and often innocence. It is the forced entry into the realm of intimacy in someone's mind and heart, therefore affecting not only their present, but every day of their future, and their lover's future, and their spouse's future, and their children's future. In reality, rape often has very little to do with sex, and more to do with asserting power or control, just like assault. It is the ultimate in human degradation of fellow human. Honestly, I find your lack of astonishment at the display of rape or even any contempt for the act itself appalling. | ||

Uncontrollable just because something is horrific doesn't mean it should be banned. If you making a film then going "too far" doesn't exist : You're showing people would be going "too far", if it wasn't a film where it didn't really happen thus it doesn't actually fucking matter. If you can't watch something horrific without being scarred, then don't watch it.
