After reading a few articles on the subject, the UK has been very successful negotiating their own contracts and approving vaccines quickly, and have gotten their hands on many more shots than the EU so far. It feels like the EU is too big and sluggish in this situation, despite the financial power. I am not a fan of neither BOJO nor Brexit, but they still deserve credit when it is due. https://www.bbc.com/news/explainers-52380823 I don't see why Brexit is relevant. EU countries were not forced to join the EU vaccine scheme and the EU allows emergency approval of vaccines (which the UK used as it was following EU rules when it approved the first vaccines), so the UK could have done everything the same if it were still a full member of the EU.

How's the Meghan Markle - Oprah interview being received over there?

Piers Morgan getting gently called out for his ridiculously biased reporting (question seemed to imply that he wanted to date Markle and then has been running negative stories about her after she married Harry) then storming off set seems to be the most amusing thing about it so far.
Every British person I've ever heard express an opinion on Morgan calls him a twatwaffle, but I don't know if that's just my selective exposure.

Every British person I've ever heard express an opinion on Morgan calls him a twatwaffle, but I don't know if that's just my selective exposure. Piers Morgan beats James Cordon as the worst British export to America. He is an absolutely loathesome individual who printed fabricated evidence of human rights abuses in Iraq that directly led to attacks on British troops and was implicated in the phone hacking scandal. In an industry filled exclusively with pieces of shit he is somehow uniquely awful. Punching him was the best thing Clarkson ever did.

Did Piers forget to bring him a steak?

Piers printed a story about Clarkson having an affair. Clarkson is a dipshit and so was mad about getting caught rather than recognizing that it was his fault for having an affair as a public figure. But when two dickheads fight all you can do is cheer.

I'd like to see them properly go at it but i'm not sure who i would want to win. I guess Clarkson is sometimes funny so probably him.

I think the 40,000 complaints our media regulator got about his coverage of Markle probably factors into it. UK TV companies don't exactly thrive on being controversial.

British insults are the best <3
The whole Meghan / Harry thing looks like it is written by Netflix. Very amusing

It's rather suprising how the royal family actually signed off that statement. Like what the fuck? We are shocked that these last years have been hard for Meghan. Did you not talk to each other? Who is even remotely gonna believe that shit?
Never mind, Brexit also happened.
The palace can thank this idiot Morgan for being the asswipe he is and the incredible statment by this reporter's association guy for being great distractions. "The press ain't racist". I coudnya decide whether to laugh or cry when I read the story.

It’s beyond bizarre, given up trying to understand the sensibilities of the British public at this stage.

The racism basically completely disqualifies the royal family from any sliver of respect I may have ever had for them. Truly gross. I can't believe anyone can slightly approve of this ooga booga establishment.

Lol. For me them being "Royal family" disquaifies them entierly. I dont know what exactly people expect from them. They are like bastion of conservatism and avatar of imperial past. I wont shed tears about the hardships of being duke and duchess either.

Honestly, no one I know cares. Talking about the royal family is only good for small talk.

That buzzfeed article was so unexpectedly entertaining!
In all seriousness, I feel bad for Meghan and Harry, but looking over this bunch of mundane meaningless reporting with these gloriously baldfaced double standards:
Kate's flowers: lily of the valley meaning a return of happiness ....
Meghans flowers: Lily of the valley is a highly poisonous woodland flowering plant and ingestion could be deadly... As Meghan’s bridesmaids were so young, having this flower on their heads could be considered a dangerous decision
What is this even??

My favourite is the articles made a month apart about their fashion by the same writer. Sort of insane lol

I think the phrase "opium for the masses" fits very well for this nonsense.
