There was a Civ vote, and Civ 4 won that poll, so Civ 4 entered the bracket as the representative for the Civ franchise.
The only way it would have made a difference is if the people who felt Civ 2 > HoMM3 > Civ 4 outnumbered the people who thought Civ 4 > HoMM3 > Civ 2. People who felt Civ 2 > Civ 4 > HoMM3 (are you in this camp?) would have voted Civ 4 over HoMM3 anyway

And the winner is: Warcraft III: The Frozen Throne! After several days of voting, you have chosen Warcraft III as Teamliquid's Favorite Video Game! I hope you had fun during this tournament, and that you were able to recall fond memories of playing some of your favorite games in the past. Maybe you were even exposed to some games you've never experienced and want to try out. In any case, congratulations to Warcraft III: The Frozen Throne!

I have never had more fun in a game than all the custom maps from when the game was in its younger stage (first 3 years). DoTA came and killed the UMS scene. oh god I remember the UMS games in RoC. Zoator's tower defense, battleships, the original dota where you customized skills yourself.

I'm kind of surprised that WC3 won, considering the other games I would rate very high like SS2 or Vampire went out pretty early.

You have to remember a lot of people from this site are/were fans of the WC3 pro scene. Im not saying its anywhere near as bad to have the OP remove it like he did SC but it was the clear favorite once BW and SC2 were removed.

Considering the games left in the final rounds, I think WC3 is the right winner.

I'm pretty satisfied with the results, as I spent an incredible amount of time playing WC3 in the past. From awesome customs like Island D, Skibi TD, and NOTD to the badass campaigns in both the original and expansion, the game had tons of enjoyable content that lasted many years.

Well some of the games that are considered very good are still kinda niche/unknown games. Take Vampire as example, I've heard only good about the game itself, but I barely know anyone who has ever played it. While nearly everyone I know who's somewhat into PC/video games has played WC3 in some shape or form at some point.

Congrats WC3!
And well done, Beamer 159! You did a lot of work and made me remember a lot of great games. Thanks for that!

WC3 winning on a website focused on the most popular RTS of all time? you don't say...

Exactly, Vampire is possibly the best WRPG ever made as far as atmosphere and dialogue goes. But barely anybody plays it, and the release version was so bugged you'd be lucky to play through it without running into something game-ruining. You need the community patch to make it playable, it's not a mod, just fixes all the bugs(It was the first source game that wasn't made by valve). Really wish troika hadn't gone down. They made some serious quality games.
But yea these kind of polls end up being more about which good games most people played and less about which games are actually good, but that's not what this was about. It was about TLs favourite game, not the best game. And i completely understand WC3 winning.

Most of my favorite games were eliminated pretty early .

Bollocks

I was voting for Ocarina the whole time, but this result is alright too. Well done OP

Warcraft isn't bad, it just isn't a game I'd play through twice.

This man is not kidding, personally I can say VTMB is the last true RPG that I've played/got made. It's the kind of game you will come back to after some years and it's still great, or even better, because it's still to this day being patched/modded. It is not perfect by any means but I can HIGHLY recommend it to anyone who wants a wonderful RPG experience, just be sure, as said before, to patch it Thoroughly :p.
Can't say it enough, highly recommended.
