I was searching for the guns/firearms thread and assumed it was deleted, because I definitely recall there being one.
Did they merge it with the "mass shooting" thread? Because I definitely recall there being one concurrent to it.

I hope the debate inspires us to discuss policy issues instead of whatever outrageous thing said by one candidate or another or, by cursory glance, a 30(?) page discussion on if a poster is racist or not (even if it turns out to be true it's still toxic to read). Wait, I thought Trump and Trump supporter's views on race relations was a central policy issue.

This is the same thread that was called the mass shooting thread.
If mods find the discussion in a thread silly, they like to rename it, like they renamed this one. Another example of this is:

That IS the gun control thread, it got renamed because it was only getting activity if a mass shooting was in the news.

For those who don't want to bother with time zones, the debate is 1 hour and 22 minutes from this post.

I'll move the question over.

Alright, real discussion. I'm drinking jack daniels, prepared neat, during the debate. Give me all your drinks of choice for the dumpster fire we are about to witness.

Are people really triggered by trigger warnings? I have only seen them used in an academic setting where if the topic is one that can potentially trigger someone you put a sinple little warning about it before you go into the topic. I do a similar thing everytime I give a lecture and there will be dead human bodies on the slides.
Its just a small guesture letting people who attend a public event know about content. We warn people about content of shit all the time.

Anyone up for bets on the election result before the debate? I currently have a sig bet with GH over the winner of Washington state, and a money bet with iPlaY.NettleS over the winner of the election. Ban bets are reserved for GH and xDaunt, but money bets are welcome. We can discuss them over PM if the admins would rather not have us talk about those in the thread.

Wait, I thought Trump and Trump supporter's views on race relations was a central policy issue. Even if it is, it is still a toxic argument that's been repeated ad nauseam in this thread and has little productive or written value at this point, since there's no actual actionable policies being discussed. If we're actually going to discuss these issues, I'd rather there be focus on policies that could potentially be implemented (like the merits, or complete lack thereof of "stop and frisk" as a local/state level policy), not whether or not one poster or another is a racist.
Like the brewing (repeated) argument about trigger warnings and "SJWs" that is spawning. It doesn't actually go anywhere besides being a long-winded argument about political correctness.

Yeah, drink when I feel the pain of the science and compassion slipping out the US political lexicon. I should be trashed by 45 minutes.

1) I'd do 1 to 1 bets on Trump winning any one of:
-Florida -NC -Iowa -Nevada -Ohio
2) If I receive double the wager, I will bet that Trump will win all five of those.
3) If I receive 1.5 of my amount, I will bet that Trump will win any of:
-Colorado -Pennsylvania -Michigan
4) If I receive double my wager, I will bet that Hillary won't win a single state that Romney won
5) Since I don't have absolute faith in the American voter, I'd do a 1.5 my wager amount that Trump will become the POTUS.
I'd do sig/ban bets for any of the states in #1. Minimum bet $100, maximum $500.
