[H] VirtualDub/Codec Problem

Recently I've been trying to make some VODs. Camtasia records them fine, but when it comes to compressing them I get an error which says: 'The decompression codec cannot decompress to an RGB format. This is very unusual. Check that any "Force YUY2" options are not enabled in the codec's properties'. I'm using VirtualDub 1.6.11 and DivX 6.1.1 Codec. I've opened DivX properties but I don't see anything to do with Force YUY2. Basically I have no idea what the cause of this problem is, it never happened when I made VODs before, I dunno if it's this VirtualDub version or the codec, or something else. I'm using the same options in camtasia and virtualdub as I always used, so it's not that.

EDIT: I uninstalled then redownloaded both DivX codec and virtualdub too, but it didn't help the problem.

i am making a fpvod and i get the same error, this thread addresses the problem im having so if anyone knows how to work around it can you please respond? thank you

If it's an error with decompression, then it's VirtualDub having trouble reading the Camtasia file format. What's Camtasia use?

I'm assuming he's just capturing as raw .avi?

i watched the spitfire video and it helped out but im still not quite sure what size i should make it without it being too choppy, the original size is about 300mb and i using camtasia 4 with the newest vdub

Yeah, I'm getting that same error, and I can't figure out why.

I used Camtasia to record it as an .avi, I go open up virtual dub, drag the vid into it, and at FIRST everything seemed to be in order. I set the compression codec (I've tried dvix and xvid), filters, things like that, and when I went to save it, I get this message:

"The decompression codec cannot decompress to an RGB format. This is very unusual. Check that any "Force YUY2" options are not enabled in the codec's properties."

Now VirtualDub won't open up any of my recordings made by Camtasia. All I get is blackness and that error message. Anyone know whats wrong?

I successfully got around that problem by doing the following:

1. Use Virtualdub 1.6.19 (This is NOT the latest version and can be downloaded at the Virtualdub website)

2. Every time you use Virtualdub, from the video menu, select color depth. Then set the decompression format to 24 bit.

3. In Virtualdub use the latest version of XviD to compress your video (I haven't tried DivX, but it will probably work too).

This allowed me to compress Starcraft footage taken with Camtasia Studio 5's Recorder (which I set to use the Techsmith codec) with XviD.

Yeah, okay, it seems to work with older versions of Virtualdub. I tried it on Virtualdub 1.6.14, and it worked. Thanks.

I recently had the same problem, installing the latest ffdshow solved it.
