I really don't know what Romney can do with this video is though. I get the part about not worrying about people who are locked into their support of Obama, but then to throw in stuff about not ever convincing them to take personal responsibility, etc, etc. It just really doesn't sound good. Businesses want cheap labour to keep their costs down, but to insult them in the process? It has all the sensitivity of that apocrophal quote of Mary Antoinette. But I guess it could rally business owners and owner-operators.

Man, I can't wait to see what the Daily Show and Saturday Night Live does with this ...

Fox is the number one cable news outlet, but its reach still does not match the combined reach of the other media outlets -- even if you factor in talk radio on the side of Fox. It doesn't really matter much anymore though. To whatever extent Fox and talk radio had not broken the liberal media monopoly, the internet has sealed the deal. Hell, Drudge is the single biggest driver of news on the planet, and he's a republican (and he's gay, for those who don't know).

What Romney said is something that is fervently believed among conservatives already. We'll see how it plays out.

Ticking down the time till The Daily Show tomorrow, should be great, I think those graphs are hilarious. Though I just found out about the O'Reilly vs Jon Stewart debate on this election Oct 6th, I have to watch that.

Yes. He just called 47% of the country freeloaders. We'll see how this plays out.

Unless you want to shit on the elderly, too.
Damn those elderly. They work all their lives trying to support their family and give their kids an opportunity to live fulfilling lives, then when they're too old to work they expect us to have some decency to make sure they don't rot in poverty like the 50% of elderly before them before the New Deal. SIGH, freaking leeches.

Those freeloaders live so lavishly on their $125 of food stamps each month too. Such an easy ride for them.

And there's also the fact that payroll taxes work out for most of those people to about 15% of their total income, which percentage wise is MORE than Mitt Romney's 14%.
Source
Mitt came out and said that "he doesn't pay any more taxes than he's required to." and yet the people here paying pay roll taxes are essentially saying the same thing.
You can't have it both ways Mitt.

The % argument is completely insane to me.
Someone paying 15% of their 30K income is really gonna complain about the millionarie on the other end of town who paid 14%?
So the guy who paid 4,500 bucks is chaffed the guy who paid 140,000 isn't paying enough?
Mitt Romney has paid more in taxes over the last 2 or 3 years than pretty much anyone on this board will their entire lives.
The rich aren't "screwing" over the society, they are the ones making it possible.
I'm squarely cushy middle class btw. But just because I can't afford a new Mercedes or private jet doesn't make me think it's ok to pillage from those who can.

It's because that 4,500 actually makes a difference for that person's life, it could mean living comfortably, or struggling. I know 4,500 is a decent chunk of money too me. Romney it's just another 140,000, he's got plenty of millions in his accounts and what not. These number's are nothing too him.
I disagree about the rich making things possible, they've seen most of the economic growth over these years with their extremely low tax rates, and they're still calling for lower tax rates for the rich as if it's actually going to go back into the economy or something?
(sorry about misusing they're and their, feel silly, freaking tired, goodnight all )

L.O.L.
Let me take a minute to thank Jamie Dimon for being so patriotic. God knows America would be nothing without him and JPMorgan Chase, our knight in shining armor, and an exemplary role model to all who believe in the American Dream.

Tax rates (what republicans are usually talking about) and Effective tax rates (what democrats talk about) are two different things. Just FYI.

How you can defend a rich person paying LESS taxes in % than a poor guy is beyond me. You could make an argument for a flat tax (i would still disagree but i see the point).
No, the rich aren't screwing over society, but most get rich on the works of others, every penny they make on top of a decent payout is basically saved via not paying their employees more. I'm not advertising equal pay, i am advertising a "sane" diffrence between employes and management which just seems to be gone totally crazy over the last ~20-30 years.

This s literally the most ridiculous and insane thing that I've ever read.
Are you sure you want to be American? Maybe you would be happier in some oligarchy where you can thank your overlords for the privilege of waxing their chariots for tips.

Probably the type of guy who was salivating over the estate tax campaign even though it was created by person to person talks between multimillionaires who actively discussed the best ways to guilt trip the middle class into abolishing.
As a person who can't really ignore the numbers of the historical wealth gap (statiscians arguing it may just be the greatest gap in history) that continues to widen between the rich in comparison to the middle/lower class I don't really have alot of sympathy for these lines of arguments.

Well, the funny thing is, the rich payer higher tax rates, so a flat tax (15% across the board for example) would actually mean the rich are taxed less. I would support a flat tax, but I think it is kind of bullshit we are double taxed. I would completely get rid of income tax and just raise sales tax.
