other everlane products are kinda eh. I have the cashmere beanie, part of me wishes I'd have grabbed the outlier watch cap instead.
One of my co-workers worked for everlane for like 6 years, and now we both work at a 'competitor' online fashion company. I have a lot of inside intel and I can tell you that they spend a lot of time and money on their products. They only sell the nice stuff so buying from them is a pretty safe bet. If they were able to release new stuff more often and in higher volume they would have a really strong presence in the space.

Thoughts on the ray-ban 2140's? I'm considering getting a pair (the polarized version) but I'm not sure if it will come off too 'hipster'. I feel like the fact that being in San Francisco I can probably get away with it, and I'm okay being called a hipster if I ever leave town (which is never). Wearing a henley and jeans to work, yay or nay?
Being a hipster is a lot more about attitude, and who cares what people classify you as?
Rayban 2140s are probaly too mainstream for hipsters anyway. If you really want to get into stereotypes I think more fratboys wear rayban 2140s whereas a hipster would more likely go for clubmasters or a different more rounded pair.

any tailor will probably make you a bespoke suit, but that's not to say that the quality will be worth it.
those shoes have ugly soles. I also don't think that you should judge a pair of glasses by how people perceive you in them - it should be how much you like them that decides whether it's a buy or not.
that's a very broad question. it depends on the formality of your work. is it a retail store? sure. banking? probably not, unless it's a very casual setting.

I hate to call people out but Everlane hasn't been around for 6 years...
what competitor (if you're allowed to share?) give us dem hookupsszzz :p.
Nan (everlane's customer service guy) is really awesome, to be fair. but i've heard mixed things about some of their products.

they're meh to put it bluntly material is mediocre and cuts are atrocious if we're being meticulous
but for the price I guess it's ok. got on the social networking hype and built themselves into a legitimate online manufacturer

Is there a better place to buy tshirts from that doesn't cost 3x+ as much?

everlane tees started wearing down on me after several washes and billow out at the waist. costco tees are actually gigantic on me, I use em as loungewear. I've owned everything in the list above except AA, acne, james perse, and iron heart tees; my best experiences are with sifr and muji so far. target and kohls are legit as well.
as a disclaimer I have a waifish figure, so take that as you will when you consider my opinions about fit.
|
where are you getting access to muji? if acne doesnt go well for me im gonna go with sifr. though tbh im pretty ok with my everlanes so far. no billow or awful wear.
t by wang is very thin - not particularly beefy. a different kind of T.
daww waifish.

I guess I was exaggerating a bit, the way he tells the story makes it seem like forever :D
The company I work for is currently women's only, but if you're in the market for a nice bodycon dress I can hook you up.

Rayban 2140s are probaly too mainstream for hipsters anyway. If you really want to get into stereotypes I think more fratboys wear rayban 2140s whereas a hipster would more likely go for clubmasters or a different more rounded pair. I ended up getting both the wayfarers and the clubmasters. I'll probably wear the wayfarers on weekdays where I don't care to draw too much more attention to myself, and the clubmasters on the weekends. If I end up not wearing one of them much I'll just return it.

What do you guys do in summer, leg-wise?
I don't like wearing shorts, but my usual jeans are too hot. Is there such a thing as super-light jeans, preferably at 28/32. My 'style' in summer consists of worn black / white chucks and black t-shirts.

Let me know what you think of them, my sunglasses literally just broke so I need to replace them ASAP.

What about tailored shorts/chino shorts whatever they are called? As far as the jeans I'm not sure, but chino pants are typically pretty lightweight.

Those look mega, mega gay. May as well wear a pink polo shirt. And I don't mean 'gay' as a slur, I mean it in an honest to God, dick-for-breakfast gay way.
If only I had the guts to wear a kilt, those look like the perfect solution for hot summers.
|
Haha okay. Send pics of your kilt adventures.

If only I had the guts to wear a kilt, those look like the perfect solution for hot summers. That's still very inclusive of you. What does it mean to look "gay?" Flamboyant is entirely different from sexuality.
Also 10oz denim and linen pants

Well then I guess am very much looking forward to looking like I eat dicks-for-breakfast when all this snow goes away.
Also, would you guys happen to know where I could find longer/curved hem t-shirts that are not shit tier materials (zara) but a few steps under ricky/ann prices also?

john elliot co! though, it'd help if you were taller. they were kinda eh on my at 5'6"
