im usually ok with dropping money on stuff that last, boots, peacoats, jeans, etc, not only because of appearance but it makes sense financially too in the long run.

Id argue that jeans worth 2 bills, provided youre interested enough in jeans, is worth the price for the quality and for the feeling of "damn i look good" you get, even for a college student making do (not "making ends meet tho, that implies 0 disposable income) . Better than owning 3 pairs of Lees lol. But thats just me

I dont post on mfa. Nor own eg. Im not into either aesthetic :p. i follow some sub subs tho. Male fashion market got me a few cheap shirts.

I like browsing MFA for everything that isnt advice, which I guess sounds counter productive given the name of the sub lol.

For me, EG is in this weird spot where I like a lot of their stuff but wouldn't wear a lot of it myself. I really like that they add a fun touch to traditional pieces, but some of the more out there stuff looks too costume-y for my taste, especially when put together.

I'd drop 200 on denim, for sure but other things I'm iffy about. I'd trade my 3 pairs of decent but not amazing raws for one pair of APC or RT or something. Actually I could justify dropping 200 on any piece except for oxfords and what not. 200 is definitely the top of my budget though.

that's not a weird spot at all, happens all the time

also eg has a lot of stuff that are nice pieces taken separately but I've never really liked any of their lookbooks/ensembles. their patterns are really cool though.
