Congratulations on reaching this thread. In the rare event that you are in grandmasters league, have a scorching hot girlfriend, and somehow avoided the terrible stench of being a gamer, please refrain from telling us about it. The 10 pages of people informing us that they do, in fact, have sex should provide enough of a counterexample to any non-believers.

a person who spends more time playing games is less likely to be outside doing some kind of physical activity. even walking to and fro burns some calories. so whether you are a couch potato or a keyboard hero, simple logic will tell you that these people are less likely to be fit.
"Smell bad and have no time for girls"
What of that says being fit? You don't need to exercise to have good hygiene or lady skills.
As for exercise, if you work for 8 hours (even better if it is a physical job), sleep for 8 hours, exercise for 1 hour and still play video games for 7 hours a day. 1 hour's intense focused exercise (plus anything you get while at work) a day is enough to stay quite healthy.
So you're wrong, it isn't "simple logic" explaining why these people are less likely to be fit, it is false stereotyping which results in you thinking these people are less likely to be unfit.
i agree, exercise is not directly related to those things, but someone was pointing out that gamers are, on average, fatter or less fit.
try to describe realistic scenarios. a person who plays games for 7 hours a day is quite unlikely to do some gym work for an hour or two. yes there are exceptions, but ask yourself, is this really the case? as opposed to the average guy who takes things in moderation.

Are you talking out of your ass or where are you getting your information?
well i was there in cologne, and it was very frustrating. (i´m 28 years old..the average ugly kid was 12-16 there) As i told some people already: It´s the same with Rap-Music. You cant tell anyone in public that you like it, because you get judged like these average Rap-Idiots. Same applies to Gaming. I´m done with that....wont tell anyone anymore that i play computer games. The majority of the people i saw there were disgusting. BUT, in all honesty, i enjoyed the crowd at the IEM Masters Starcraft matches the most!! This "group" seemed a little bit more civilized (i was there on saturday...never ever visit this kind of event on a saturday... )
But i was very disappointed at the current gaming community. I would have loved to see the TL Meeting...i heard it was really good from a guy i met, or more was pressed against, in the train on our way back home. But i guess they were older then the average "Gamer" who attended GC.

I think there is an area of a lot of people that might play 3-4 hours a day and still exercise quite regularly. These people would be considered "gamers" my pretty much anyone, however if you don't watch TV or sit on Facebook for hours at a time having a life outside this time is very realistic.
If you work 40hrs a week and play 7 hrs a day i'd say you are in the minority. Nearly everyone I know that plays 7+ hours in a day regularly is either at university or working part time. I also play soccer with these people on Thursday nights...
I love the mod´s top note - really just made me crack up! Still I find it an outrage airing so much nonsense on TV in a time slot that attracts attention. It is easy to make good ratings with badly researched information and provocative content - thats why almost all media including internet homepages use these tactics. We have to live with it because the majoritiy of people watching, listening or reading are into in that kind of stuff and exagerations make everything even more interesting. Sadly this time it has hit us - the gamers. Although I strongly disagree with the points risen in this report it is true that a lot of people see in gamers the ugly cellar dweller who never had a girlfriend. Even in my family - that includes my wife - gaming is looked upon as a "bad thing". While watching television is accepted, gaming is absolutely not. I believe that we have to deal with that for now, because it will take some time before people will realize that gaming is infact better than television in every regard.

the evidence is that sitting around and playing games burns less calories than doing most things outside the house. fact.
