I haven't read the specific papers justifying why it is believed that we are on left side of the curve, but pretty much every set of tax cuts that I can think of (JFK, Reagan, W.) led to such an increase in the tax base that revenues actually increased despite lower marginal rates. Why do you think Laffer advocated tax cuts?

We already discussed this ad nauseum a week or two ago. It's an issue of semantics. I can just as easily argue that Obama did a tour of apology as some troll can come out and argue that what Obama said doesn't meet the Webster's Dictionary version of apology. It's a really fucking stupid argument.

In 2009, it went to almost $1.5 trillion and has stayed around $1.3 trillion per year ever since. Are you denying that the debt has ballooned under Obama, regardless of whether it is actually his fault?

The current deficit is $1,316.89 billion. This is how Maddow can claim Obama reduced the deficit.
Maddow is technically incorrect, as she is using the figures from the end of fiscal year 2009 as Obama's entry level deficit figure.

No, it's not a matter of semantics, since the definition of "apology" is precise enough to allow for direct verification and does not leave room for personal interpretation (at least in this case). The claim "Obama went on an apology tour" is a lie. End of story.

This is the problem with partisan media. People jump to the conclusions and emotions they want to. As soon as someone gives them a reason to hate someone they already hate, they jump on it without digging at all. The national debt has increased from about $10 trillion in 2008 to over $16.4 trillion today. In 2008, the budget deficit was ~$450 billion. In 2009, it went to almost $1.5 trillion and has stayed around $1.3 trillion per year ever since. Are you denying that the debt has ballooned under Obama, regardless of whether it is actually his fault? Sir I am just trying to find out if Mitt Romney is an evil liar or not. Rachel says in that video "when Obama took office the deficit was about 1.3 trillion dollars" Romney is quoted as saying "he (Obama) doubled it... he doubled it". Since a simple google* search will reveal that the deficit is not in fact 2.6 trillion dollars currently, are you saying my lovely and eloquent friend Ms. Maddow is lying? edit: *good i suppose would also work there. not what I meant to type though. Obama became president elect on November 4, 2008. The federal deficit for fiscal year 2008 was $458.55 billion. The federal deficit for fiscal year 2009 was $1,412.69 billion. This is how Romney can claim Obama doubled the deficit. The current deficit is $1,316.89 billion. This is how Maddow can claim Obama reduced the deficit. Okay I could cut him some slack for that one, maybe, how about the part where there's like 5 clips of him repeating "He didn't create the recession, but he made it worse!", and then when asked why he is saying Obama made it worse when the facts clearly show otherwise he says "I never said that". It's pretty hilarious how quickly you went from "How could ANYONE defend this guy?" and "It is 100% unarguably false!" to saying "Okay I could cut him some slack for that one." You were so sure of yourself based on a video you saw. This is the problem with partisan media. People jump to the conclusions and emotions they want to. As soon as someone gives them a reason to hate someone they already hate, they jump on it without digging at all. People like Maddow and Limbaugh are just catering to an audience who are seeking indignation instead of facts.
