It's a timeless classic and whether or not you realize it or not you've probably heard it at some point in your life. Just listen to it... who says you have to put words to everything? Also that pop culture song is great, I have always been a fan of sampling and mash ups. Boo to anyone who says a song fails for this thread just because it isn't very popular or because it wasn't made when your Dad was young... this is one song you think everyone should have, not the Rolling Stone Top 500 haha

What a fantastic performance of Stochelo Rosenberg's "For Sephora" by The Rosenberg Trio with Biréli Lagrène. Really, I don't think you can ask for more. They're all having fun with the song, Biréli delivers one of the most beautifully tasteful solos I've heard from him, and then he makes a mistake near the end and everyone laughs. Edit: The song actually starts at 0:32, if you don't want to hear who Sephora is.

Johnny Appleseed BAND: Joe Strummer and the Mescaleros YOUTUBE: + Show Spoiler + WHY: This song has so much fucking heart. Its easily my favorite song of all time. Those of you who do not know of joe strummer, he was the frontman for the clash. (rock the kasbah, london calling, white riot, etc) The Clash transformed punk rock from a gritty music and fasion lifestyle into a new form of art that had so much meaning and depth to it, that it transcended what the music actually sounded like. Which is why we have a connection between punk and reggae, punk and folk, etc etc. When the band fell apart, Joe was regarded as the hero of punk rock. He pretty much kept to himself, travelled the world over and over, spent time with his family, and composed music for music's sake, not fames sake. Then, for the sake of making amazing music, he assembled a band called Joe Strummer and the Mescaleros. He incorporated music styles from all over the world that he picked up in his travels, and musicians as well. World music in its most literal form. The band was successful, but not in records sold, or money made... it was a band making music for music. a few years after making this song, Joe suddenly died one december night, right before christmas. Joe was a shining light in music.. even in the early 2000's when music was seemingly at its bleakest, he broke the mold even in his middle-age. He is a champion for the oppressed, the struggling, and humanity. This song reflects this entirely, it is just so damn pure. he recorded a cover of redemption song, which the video is a large memorial for joe. which ill also post here; + Show Spoiler + TLDR; Joe strummer is a hero and redefined punk rock and music forever. This song is the passion of a musician making music for music's sake. Not money nor fame. Joe is and always will be one of my heroes in life.

Band: Red Link: + Show Spoiler + Why? Intense, emotional, brilliantly paced experience. It's over 5 minutes long, and not an instant is wasted. I can't guarantee that everyone will love it, but I tear up hearing this song almost every time. The build up may just knock your socks off.

To this day I still don't know why I love this song so much. Stephan Jenkins (lead singer) described it best - it's a 'nightmare lullaby'. Kind of a parody of modern societies' fascination with violence. If you don't have this background knowledge (or figure it out on your own), it seems like a really f'ed up song. + Show Spoiler +
