Should still probably call an electrician or do some youtubing for a solution to that problem. Call me paranoid but my nieghbors house burned down because of shoddy wiring in a hardwired doorbell.
I do American businesses market promote products that are highly addicting when the products sell themselves? You don't really need to launch a campaign to get people to have beer, drink soda, smoke cigarettes, buy over the counter drugs, etc.

Damn, fires can start because of that? Much obliged, will have it fixed asap.

Yeah if the switch is on, there is a voltage between the + and - in the socket. Shouldn't be a current through the air, but if you get dust or animals or whatever in the socket you can get sparks which can start fires.

um I don't understand what your trying to ask here. do you mean why?
if your asking why its because products don't actually start becoming addicting until someone tries to actually use them. so you still have a customer acquisition cost even if your customer retention cost is relatively low to nonexistent. also you have to spend money on public relations and stuff. Also the objects you listed are all addictive to different extents and In cases like Alcohol and Soda I think most of your customers aren't necessarily chemically dependent on the product like you seem to think. Most people drink Soda because they like it, not because they'll have withdrawal symptoms if they stop

There are also 100s of different types and brands of those addictive items. For instance, it doesn't help Heineken if Joe the alcoholic is buying budweiser or bourbon.

As others have said, no electricity bill for that (Which you would know if you had paid attention in physics class). You pay money for energy used. Energy is only being used if there is a current, which is only there if there is a closed electric circuit. Which requires something being between the two poles of the light bulb socket.
Still, not the best idea to have the switch constantly on on, as this means that there is constantly an open voltage difference between the two metal parts of the bulb socket (And between one of them and the floor. This means a) that fires can get started if an insect or something lands on the wrong spot, and b) you can electrocute yourself if you accidentally touch that spot (Which is also why you shouldn't work on anything electric without taking out the fuse in the fuse box first if you don't know wha you are doing. That also helps with the temperature of the lightbulb.)

You're right to be paranoid about that. Fucked up electricity wirings are regular firestarters (that includes mice going in your walls and eating your electricity cables).

I'll never forget Mothers Day that year, my mom came down to my room and woke me up, said the neighbor's house was on fire and we needed to get out because it could jump to ours. I legitimately thought she was trying to get me up early to do chores.

Also, out of sofa cushion?
if it's a proper keyboard, just take the keys off and wash off the wax in hot water. Take the chance to soap the keys as well: keyboards are one of the main spreaders of disease. If it is the laptop keyboard of a mac, then you will probably have to buy a new laptop.
Turn the sofa cushion upside down, problem sovled. If not symmetric (or if this method has already been deployed at earlier occasion), you should be able to scrape of most of the wax by hand. Some cushions you can wash in the laundry machine as well.
If you are going down the scraping path, it may work better if the wax is cold.
I'm a bit bored from competitive games - do you guys have anything relaxing to suggest me? I loved stuff like far cry - single player but with a decent story you want to complete. kinda rpgish i guess
