For the record, I can and I did: + Show Spoiler + Do you REALLY want to know?+ Show Spoiler + Truly?+ Show Spoiler + Okay. I got July 16 + Show Spoiler + Albert got either July or August. If he got May or June, Bernard might know if it was May 19th or June 18th. For Bernard to know, he could not have gotten 14. If he had, it could still be July or August. However, no matter which of 15, 16, or 17 he got, he would know which of July/August it was. We wouldn't know if it wasn't for Albert's second comment. If he got August, he'd have no idea, so it he must have been told it was in July, and July 14th is ruled out since Bernard knows her birthday. Therefore, her birthday is July 16.

i think singapore kids are given this as a rote drill so theyve studied the same solution class before. i dont think this problem is showing how smart these kids are just the wider content of the education. i know that a cousin of mine was studying algorithm design in 10th grade as standard curriculum of chinese hs system.

Spoiled for eveyone else + Show Spoiler + Ok, so Bernard does not know, and he was told the day, but not the month. So the day must be 14, 15, 16, or 17, since these have "degeneracy" (there are multiple months associated with these days). With the information that the day must be 14,15,16,or 17, Albert can figure it out. He knows the month. So the answer must be the month (14,15,16,17) that is not featured multiple times, which is June. So my answer is June 17.

+ Show Spoiler + OK So let's assume it's July 16 and chug until we hit an error Albert does not know the day, --This step works Finding this out, Bernard knows the month --This step does not work: It could be either the 16th of July or May. In either case Albert would not know the answer. For all Bernard knows, Albert could have been told May, and Albert would not have known because it could have been May 15 or 16. Bernard still does not know.

So the answer must be the month (14,15,16,17) that is not featured multiple times, which is June. So my answer is June 17. What oneofthem said. Full explanation. Do not click if you want to puzzle on it. + Show Spoiler + You missed the first step, which is not only that Bernard does not know, but that Albert knows that Bernard does not know. First thing is that Albert knows that neither of them knows what the date is. Albert not knowing does not tell us much, because all months have multiple options. However, all Albert knows about Bernard is that he knows the day. This means that it cannot be May or June, because then it could be either May 19 or June 18. However, then Bernard would know, because there are no other months for the 18th or the 19th. So the only way that Albert can know for sure that Bernard does not know is if it is neither May nor June, therefore it must be either July or August. Now Bernard knows the exact date. This means it is not the 14th of either July or August, leaving: July 16 August 15 or August 17. Now Albert knows as well. Therefore it must be July 16. If this is a quiz test for 14y.o. in Singapore then math tests there are hard. If this was part of an Olympiad, then that makes more sense.

I wonder what it would be like to watch through the film chronology starting from the 1890s without having seen any other films before. That way you would only get to watch recent films once you have gone through the whole film history. What would the experience be like and which films would you include?

There would be a few that would really blow you away. Star Wars probably most of all (ever seen pre SW sci fi? lol) A lot of development was pretty gradual though, except innovations like modern cinema takes, sound, and color.

If, however, the arms are not in your mouth, i don't see such a large disadvantage in having ginormous arms, assuming they still work as arms and it is not some silly "Well your arms are to large to move them now, fool" deal. It could actually have some advantages, like being able to reach upper shelves more easily, or winning every fistfight because of your superior reach. Actually, if you have 3m arms, you should probably think about being either a basketball player or a boxer.
