Search engines are great, but the sources you often come upon through Google are not always reliable or are not very good. Which is why I thought it'd be nice if we at Team Liquid created a neat little thread of great sources for various things.
What kind of sources am I talking about? Well, anything really! It can range from anime databases to awesome gaming communities to political stuff, scientific journals, reliable news sites, business-related sites, poetry, jokes, etc. etc.
How this will work:
- Say specifically what the site is catered to (anime, news, politics, etc.)
- Paste the URL.
- Note whether it requires a paid membership, some kind of invite, or nothing. If the site requires a paid membership or whathaveyou I'll note it in the archive.
- If the site is in a different language from English, please say so.
- Do NOT list sites that may contain illegal material. For instance, no torrent sites, no music download sites, and no porn sites.
- Use common sense. Do NOT post stuff like goatse.
- Sites should be generally approved by readers. For instance, do not list the Daily Mail as a reliable news source.
- I'll be archiving categories in alphabetical order.
Feel free to post any questions or suggestions.
I'll start!
Note: Academic sources that require paid memberships can usually be accessed through your University. For instance, I use my University's proxy to access JSTOR. Check up on that if you are interested.
