Ironicaly it took ISIS invading Iraq to make the government reveal that they indeed had found WMD's and were disposing of them. They were the WMD's that we had known them to have as everyone knew they had. The ones we went into Iraq for were of a more fissionable nature.

P6 do you have a suggestion for what would be a good idea or are you just wanting to complain about the situation?

So invading Iraq since 2003 till 2011 nothing was found but when ISIS merged in 2014 there was fear that those WMD would fall in their hands suddenly those WMDs were found? Sounds fishy to be honest.

A good start would be stop supporting the Kurds to create a country that will fuck up Turkey, Syria, Iraq and maybe Iran.

No, I wanted to bitch. I have strong emotional responses to seeing kids get gassed. The Iraq army is the only silver lining to all this, but they still stop as the border and only contain ISIS.

Short of full nation building, there is no solution. And that one is flawed because we are kinda bad at it. Even if the war stops tomorrow, the country is ruined and is unlikely to rebuild for a decades. Its economy will take a decade to recover. The rebels and anyone unlucky enough to be associated with them will be rounded up and killed. And then we might get some peace for a little while. Until the people Assad is repressing try again.

Wars just lead to more wars. The end of a the Syrian civil war will just lead to another war involving Syria.

Differently more legitimate than the current sectarian Iran's puppet government at the moment.

No those WMD's were there the whole time from when Saddam used them to gas the kurds after we sold them to him. You just don't know the real reason why we went into Iraq and it was because of Nuclear weapons. The Syrians have chemical weapons that they use so your argument is moot about it being the same thing.

A good start would be supporting the kurds to create a country because they're a large ethnic group in the area that doesn't have their own country while everyone around them does. Russia is clearly a more pressing concern to a Kurdish nation if you'd look at a map then all the nations that would lose a region that gives them trouble (other then Iran but Iran hasn't screwed with them).

A Kurdistan doesn't really look like a political possibility at this point. Too many important nations in the area opposed.

The only nuclear thing they had was destroyed in 1981:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Operation_Opera

Good start that includes fucking up 3 countries but hey, suddenly out of nowhere Kurds in Syria, Turkey became oppressed and now we should merge it up with Iraq-Kurdistan and later some land from Iran. Because reasons...

Differently more legitimate than the current sectarian Iran's puppet government at the moment.

Have we all forgotten that Saddam was a dictator who seized power, purged his own party and ran a repressive police state that used poison gas, torture and death squads on its own citizens. For Saddam's Iraq to be more legitimate than anywhere it would have to have some legitimacy.

Implying that the current Iraq is not a repressive police state that has secret prisons and death squads that are working on sectarian cleanse around Baghdad. The country is turning into a sink hole due to extreme loyalty to Iran,

At least during Saddam, Iraq was independent and "secular". The loyalty is for Iraq and his party. Not foreign and sectarian party. If you have to choose between the two, which one would you choose?

Modern Iraq in a heartbeat. Because at least now we have the pleasure of having seen Saddam hang. Maybe some more people deserve a sudden drop but we definitely got one guy who needed it.

Fuck the fact that the country is a sectarian based one.
Fuck the fact that the country is not independent but merely a Governorate follows Iran.
Fuck the fact that secret prisons, death squads are the same but with different loyalties and affiliations
Fuck the fact that the country is on the brake of breaking into two states.

But hey, we got Saddam hang. That what matters.

Sometimes, I just wonder why we are even arguing.

Is there an unwritten law somewhere on this earth that grants every ethnicity a nation? Or is this your imperial mind sickens you with a corrupt logic that makes you think supporting an uprising would be a good policy. This attitude needs to end, from individual levels, to international grounds. It's nothing but next level map designing that people cursed GB for almost a century, what makes you think yours would work?

the other side take on it:
"Yesterday, from 11:30 am to 12:30pm local time, Syrian aviation made a strike on a large terrorist ammunition depot and a concentration of military hardware in the eastern outskirts of Khan Sheikhoun town," Russian defence ministry spokesman Igor Konoshenkov said in a statement posted on YouTube.

"On the territory of the depot there were workshops which produced chemical warfare munitions.

He said the chemical munitions had been used by rebels in Aleppo last year. "The poisoning symptoms of the victims in Khan Sheikhoun shown on videos in social networks are the same as they were in autumn of the previous year in Aleppo," Konoshenkov said."
so, they shot a depo/its vicinity and it leaked chemical gases.
And my fury stands ready. I bring all your plans to nought. My bleak heart beats steady. 'Tis you whom I have sought.

Yeah... Because they would actually say "oops, we did it yeah sorry...". Why the fuck would you strike chemical warfare munitions if it will be released on civilians. What is the difference at this point if you dropped the chemicals directly or bombed the "chemical munitions".

The one who used chemicals was Assad. He started using to force the rebels back after advancing in northern Hamah.

Also, Israel confirmed that it has clear evidence that it was Assad's planes which dropped the bombs and it would send it to US.

So Assad apparently uses chemical weapons against his own people just as ISIS is almost defeated, leading to the very real chance of a western ground invasion to remove him.

Stinks to high heaven.Amazing how fast Assad was blamed though.Almost like the west is trying to justify yet another war escalation.John McCains got a stiffy right now.

- Assad dropped the bombs, that's obvious; no need for proof.
- they might have not known about those workshops producing chemical weapons(kind of a long shot or implies some kind of set up), if that was the case.
