Actually, they did start collecting donations before it was ok'ed. Mayor Bing has already said there are no plans to build the statue. My point was that just because its private money doesn't mean they can put up a statue in a city that they don't live in =/. After all, They aren't the ones who will be looking at it, we will. also: the people of Detroit are not necessarily in favor of it, there is a lively debate going on in our city right now. | ||

edit- i forgot, i believe the proposed site for this statue is in front of the old train station. pretty much a mecca for aspiring artists in michigan. | ||
