Thought I might make a general discussion topic for fans of costumed, live-action superhero shows that Team Liquid might have. Topic will have spoilers, so don't continue or read people's posts if you don't want to be spoiled.
These are the descriptions for current Kamen Rider, Super Sentai, and Power Rangers series (taken from the Rangerboard discussion topics):
Eiji Hino is many things. Homeless. Friendless. Pantsless. Then he met Ankh, a guy with a claw for a hand and some shiny medals that will soon be available in toy stores near you. Using these medals to fight the Greed, Eiji becomes Kamen Rider OOO. And none of them are aware that Foundation X is interested in these medals and is lurking in the background.
The Greeed, the villains, are sins give form. Able to reach into the hearts and minds of men and use their greed to bring forth monsters, to feed themselves with the coins said greed creates. The more greed, the bigger the Greeed. OOO (pronounced Oh's) uses the coins of the Greeed to fight the greed. Each special coloured coin used offers a different change to the Rider, with different attirbutes to each and thus multiple "forms" for him to use.
Using medals taken from the Greeed, OOO represents the ability to fight such beasts caused by our desires run amok. With each arangement of core medals a new combination is created, each with a different style and boon to it's order. Collect all three of a specific type and powerful for can be had, but be warned too much Greeed in a man soon hurts the body.
It's a show about facing the darkness in each of us caused by uncontrolled or unrealised greed and overcoming it. Though sometimes the greed let lose by ourselves (the human Kougami Foundation) can be far more of a threat then what monsters represent.
The show airs at 8:00 AM on Sunday, Japan time. Adjust to your time zone as necessary.

Power Rangers Samurai opening:
Well, Super Sentai's 35th Anniversary series Gokaiger premiered today, so I thought I might as well make a topic here to see if anyone else is a fan.
Gokaiger Opening 1:
Gokaiger Ending 1:
Feel free to discuss your thoughts in general about any of these series, past or present.
I wish Power Ranger costumes would look more badass. Glowing and stuff or something. Something like exosuits would be awesome. All Power Rangers are awesome though, even if I can't understand half of it.
This stuff was always too low-budget for my taste. If it's gonna be live action, it better be good. Only power rangers was never good. Giant robots were clearly miniatures with terribly awkward and exaggerated movements. Fight scenes were just dumb. Everything about these speaks to shoddy shoddy production quality and writing.

oh no the giant robots aren't actually giant robots!!!!
but in all seriousness you need to use your imagination, thats what make these shows, and play fighting shows (pro wrestling/lucha libre) worth watching. If you can't even use your imagination what does that word even mean to you.
Kamen Rider OOO 23 has been released by Over-Time. Ultimately, this episode seems rather uneventful. Seems like filler until we get to the ShaUTa combo's debut.
For Kamen Rider OOO episode 24, we learn a bit more about Date's past as "The fighting doctor" in the Sahara, and the ShaUTa form premieres.
ShaUTa's premiere:
With Gokaiger episode 3, the gang meets up with Kai Ozu aka MagiRed. Kai teaches Don about the meaning of Courage and about how they'll need to understand the themes of previous Sentai in order to fully harness their powers. Then later it's shown that GokaiOh can combine with parts of previous sentai's mechas, and they combine with the Magiranger's MagiDragon to form MagiGokaiOh.
Ending song covered the rest of the Sentai from Gaoranger to Goseiger.
It's all HD, JPN audio with ENG fansubs And it's awesome.
Meh, Shinkenger was exciting initially, but went on for too long with nothing happening. Deka, Magi, Bouken, Geki, and Go-On are all better than it IMO.

i think they have the most number of robots and combination of robots overall xD (and robots is the most awesome thing about power ranger :3)
I'm working my way through Gaoranger right now - It's really pretty awesome. I love the cast already.
On a related note I half-finished my Kamen Rider W MG Figurerise Heat/Metal kit last night. I'm waiting for them to release Luna/Trigger and Cyclone/Joker in Seoul. Accel came in so now I can recreate the hilarious pose on the box with W riding Accel round and waving like the Queen. I currently have a skipping model of Skull on my desk next to my completed Fang/Joker kit.
My resolutions this year toku wise are to finally make it through the following;
I only started watching sentai full time with Goonger, and I've watched all of Shinkenger, Goseiger and am currently watching Gokaiger. I've been watching KR since Blade.
I didn't have internet for the last few weeks so I haven't watched Goukaiger till today. I like it so far but I have a problem with Don, what is up with him whenever he says his "Gokai green"? Are they trying to make him gay(of course, it is Japan)?

That sounds like a kind of homophobic comment.... Gokaiger episode 3 established that Don is basically a character whose arc is focused around confidence, and developing his ability to stop being scared of making impulsive decisions. (Which is why Kai put him and Marvelous through a challenge together. Both to show Don that being impulsive and acting without planning isn't going to kill him, and to convey the information he had about the Gokaigers potential powers.)
Also Don is a part of the comic relief side of Gokaiger - he's this season's Ryunnosuke or Gunpei - someone with amusing habits to balance out the more stoic character (Joe) the sassy tomboy (Luka) the refined arsekicker (Ahim) and the confident leader with a slightly tsundere side (Marvelous.)
You could read quite a lot into the fanservice moments between Don and Marvelous, but Don also clings to Luka regularly. To say you have a problem with the idea of having a character whose sexuality is even slightly questionable (or whose behavior errs on the side of less than gung ho.) seems a bit un-necessary to me.
P.S. I don't normally discuss sentai like this, but I'm pretty pro-Don because it's interesting to have a character who isn't leaping into things straight off the bat, and shows his fears/weaknesses, but manages to gradually overcome them. It reminds me of Ryotaro from Den-O.

No no, I didn't question his sexuality from his character but look at him when they all starting to state their "Gokai(color)". WHY IS HE DOING THAT MOTION? It looks really weird to me.
I reread my post and I guess why you can misunderstood me. I meant to say that I have a problem with his movement when he poses GokaiGreen, not with the character himself.
Oh right - it did sound like you were saying something else though as you mentioned. It is a really weird pose compared to the others (and 'standard' henshin posing) however, if you look at the style in which the suit actor has chosen to portray his character during those transformed scenes it makes a lot more sense. He's not precise or elegant at all - most of his shots seem to focus on either rather clumsy, but effective attacks or comedic ones.
I think variety is fun >.> Having characters who are all adept at fighting despite their roles (such as Don being the slightly nervous, geeky cook in their crew.) suggesting otherwise would get boring pretty quickly. Giving him this type of personality allows him to have a lot of room to grow.

I'm not - how anyone could care about fandom events/tv being delayed or canceled when people have lost their friends, families and homes in this disaster is beyond me. I'm currently trying to find a way to donate offline (I can't donate online due to not having paypal or a way to use my Korean bankcard to do so.)
On an unrelated note I saw Goseiger Versus Shinkenger last night (raw.) It was really fun, and an enjoyable way to see the Shinkengers off (even though I will miss them.) Hiroki Aiba (Ryunnosuke) seemed to be really chewing on the scenery all the way though. The Gokaiger's cameo was also pleasantly comedic. I love it when they swap the genders of certain characters during henshined sequences. There's something wonderfully fanservicey about a girl!Geki-red or a rather dainty Deka!red (admittedly played by Don.)

Ah, I feel like I have to clarified my post more since you always misunderstood me because I'm too lazy to type out more words.
My main purpose of last post is just to say that one week of super hero time have been pushed back so it delayed one week further till we get the 1000th Kamen RIder episode(which I didn't mention, damn my laziness!). Also to care about the Japanese in the Earthquake/Tsunami is important but that doesn't mean that I can't feel sad about my entertainment(it's not like I demand for it to make its' schedule) is being delayed nor does it mean that I don't care(or feel sad about) what happened to the people in the incidents. I have Japanese friends that I occasionally plays Mahjong and Go with so I was very worried about them when the disasters happened, it seems like 1 out of 9 of them is affected since he's the only one that hasn't came online since then and I'm still very worried right now.
Can you understand a bit of Japanese? I used to watch raw of anime a lot but I only understand a bit of Japanese so I always misunderstood the plot so I never watched raw since then. Maybe I should start watching Raw version of super sentai since kids show shouldn't be that hard to understand, right?
Gokaiger 5 and OOO 26 have aired. Jasmine, Ban, and Doggie Kruger all appear in this Gokaiger's episode.
Not TOO many questions were answered about Ankh in OOO 26, at least from what I can tell from watching the RAW. They confirmed it was Ankh's left hand flying around (as opposed to Ankh being the right hand), but you could tell that from last week's episode if you just payed close enough attention.

Yes, I think you should since your last couple of comments came off sounding a little bit >.>
I can understand more than enough to watch an episode of sentai without subtitles. It's not difficult since the plots are usually more simplistic than KR, and a lot of the vocabulary is the same each week. It's actually good practice if you want to learn how to say some amusingly weird things.
OOO 26 and Gokaiger 6 have aired. OOO 26 seemed to be celebrating the 999th episode of Kamen Rider and didn't seem to really involve a lot of the plot. Mostly seemed to be promoting the Let's Go Kamen Riders movie with Shocker's interaction in the plot and all.
As for Gokaiger 26, fun little episode.
There are some things money can't buy. For everything else, there's Cyclone Joker Xtreme.
Looks like Jan (GekiRed) from GekiRanger is gonna be appearing in the next episode. And the bad guy will the guy that practiced Galaxy Kempo in the Geki vs. Bouken movie. Master Shafu is going to be in this episode as well. Looks like be a Don/Ahim development episode.
Sorry I'm late, but I haven't really been watching any new series. I've come bearing good news for any W fans. The W movie, Gaia Memories of Fate, has been subbed by Tv-Nihon. I haven't gotten around to watching it, but I definitely will.
Speaking of gorgeous, cute, and any other applicable words, Nastumikan
Well, I haven't posted in this topic in a while because the lack of discussion got boring. However, things are developing in Super Sentai now and thought this was a cool enough vid to post. I mean, come on, it's EVERY SINGLE Sixth Ranger. How awesome is that?

I know nothing about Super Sentai other than watching the American Power Rangers as a kid. But it was a nostalgia trip seeing the Green Ranger in there. The action was pretty cool too. Too bad no flute playing though. ;(

People always remember the Green Ranger, but do people never remember when Tommy became the White Ranger? I mean, it wasn't THAT far into the series. Even the movie had Tommy as the White Ranger.
This has been one of the best weeks in ages. (Although I've really been loving both Gokaiger and OOOs.) Gai makes Genta from Shinkenger look vaguely calm, but his misconceptions about how nice the Gokaigers are were amusing (Boku wa Captain Marvelous!)
As for OOOs. NGL we got trolled so hard, and I had a girly little sniffle. Date and Gotou are definitely two of my favorite characters ever. From Gotou's slow burn of a character arc, to Date's easy charm they're both so likable to me. Oh and it was so funny how Taito (the actor who plays Kazali) accidentally spilled the beans on his fellow D-Boy Ryuki being case as Fouze.

An adult sees a cardboard box, a child sees an F-22 Raptor cockpit. An adult sees an action figure, a child sees his superhero fighting to defend humanity. An adult sees a "low budget shoddy production", a child sees an epic struggle between good and evil with the fate of the universe hanging in the balance.
I'm not gonna say you should be ashamed, but you should definitely keep an open mind.

I was laughing so hard at that scene. Don was pissed and asked why he wasn't in. Also in the scene where the boy fell on the ground. Gai told the Gokaigers to wait and for the boy to stay on the ground while he taught the Gokaigers about how to be proper Super Sentai heroes. Which led to both the Gokaigers and the boy telling him to **** off.

Date trolled everyone hard. Faked his own death and ran off with 100 million yen 'cause his job was to train Gotou all along. I too totally thought that Date was really dead. I'll miss him a lot too.

Bah, no Super Hero Time this week. Well, I guess that could be an explanation as to why last weeks episodes were good. They had to tide us over for 2 weeks. Freaking US Open. And no Power Rangers this week either.
A week late, but still badass. Because no matter how old you are or when you grew up, GIANT TRANSFORMING ROBOT DINOSAURS will always be cool. Especially if they have drills. And can travel through time.
