I know it's supposed to hold a really stable position for the landing, but I didn't know whether a rocky sea on the way back to port could put the booster at risk. Because I want to see this one fly again. And i didn't take it that way. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Autonomous_spaceport_drone_ship Apart from the rather weird names ("Of course i still love you" and "Just read the instructions"), they're actually quite sophisticated. Of course, rough sea will still shake them, but "normal sea" won't due to the ballast tanks. They work a bit like a drilling station (they float as well, just anchored whereas this is gps controlled - they can hold position within 3 meters even in storms due to four azimuth thrusters, which are basically four fully rotatable engine pods). It's down to mission planning: they simply won't go through rough sea, the same way they wouldn't launch a rocket into a thunder cloud.

It wasn't actually clear if this booster would survive (the lady in the webhost made that clear, by saying "we might see either a nice landing or a nice fireball, something like that). I don't really see why that one wouldn't be refurbished, depending obviously on how it survived. This was just a bonus now. edit: and no, it's not proof of concept (Grasshopper), that's already done a while back. They know/knew it works.

Elon just gave a post launch conference, where he said they're gonna ship the stage back to pad 39A, fire its engines 10 times in a row and then relaunch the rocket in June (with a paying customer).

I'm wondering though where is Jimmy? Or does he only show up for failed landings?
