The problem is that the same false claims and irrelevant points are being brought up time and time again. [...] It is getting very tiresome and it definitely lowers the quality of TL as a discussion forum if this ignorance is allowed to prevail. It doesn't work because either sides don't use the same premises, and those are never adressed as the last... well, all the pages have been factual talk. DIfferent perspectives will give different interpretations, thus talking about facts will only result in a back-and-forth conversation where the camera rapidly pans from right to left and from left to right. Now, this doesn't mean anyone here is "ignorant", but let's ignore this because well, accusations of ignorance are internet debates 101 material. My suggestion is that you stop posting because a) forums will be forums (a "real" conversation in real life is already hard to have), b) posting too much in "General" is often a waste of time (and if you see the character of those who do you'll feel bad for taking part in it), c) you're not achieving anything. I know I was (or am?) guilty of b) and I feel bad. ![]() The only use for internet debates is to learn and shape your opinion in contact of others. Going further is useless.

You should have a look into the progressive movements in latin and south america, there's quite some things going on there from what I read

USA confirming that there are no charges against him is actually a neat solution.

Talk about no-charisma. It doesn't really show in interviews, but his delivery is just dead.

When there are difficult times, you're taking every help you can get. We don't know if he sincerely supports Ecuador. In some ways he has to thank / praise the Ecuadorian officials for helping him. You can't go to the Ecuadorian embassy and then shit on how the country isn't free or doesn't have free speech / free press.

Ecuador." A thief is a criminal. A murderer is a criminal. Ergo, all criminals are the same. By covering up gross human rights violations under the denomination "imperfect," the writer attempts to make you ignore just how terrible Ecuador's stance on, for example, free-journalism is. http://www.reuters.com/article/2011/08/29/us-ecuador-journalist-idUSTRE77S5AI20110829 But, you know: Sweden is imperfect, North-Korea is imperfect, so what is the difference, really?
