He basically sleep with two women 4 days apart from one another and when they found this out confronted him and asked him to take a STD test which he refused. Sounds a bit scummy but I don't get hot 20-something Swedish chicks thrown at me all the time.

So much for Swiss neutrality. Swiss Postfinance bank just froze Assagnes account. Looks like you have to be swiss resident to be allowed to have an account there. And they just found out Assagne is actually "homeless refugee attempting to gain residency in Switzerland" who used his lawyers address for bank corespondence...

The Swiss post office bank, PostFinance, has frozen the accounts of Wikileaks founder Julian Assange "(Mr) Assange cannot provide proof of residence in Switzerland and thus does not meet the criteria for a customer relationship with PostFinance. For this reason, PostFinance is entitled to close his account." For its part, Wikileaks says it and Mr Assange have lost 100,000 euros in assets in a week. "Late last week, the internet payment giant PayPal, froze 60,000 euros of donations to the German charity the Wau Holland Foundation, which were targeted to promote the sharing of knowledge via Wikileaks," Wikileaks said in a statement. - http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-11929034 On December 06 2010 20:11 Nizaris wrote: Where did you read that "allegedly she asked to stop and he didn't"? Now both PayPal and a swiss bank has stole his money: Paypal, Amazon, and a few other internet companies have been pressured by the US to stop any support of wikileaks. Continued hosting is going to be through net neutrality groups and personal mirrors most likely. Twitter has refused to acknowledge them as the most talked about new subject on their website as well. Well, we know the women who pressed charges didn't seem to mind going out to the grocery and making them breakfast the morning after. I don't think that night was particularly tragic for her... Both women have claimed they're withholding information crucial to the prosecution.

He was offered asylum in Ecuador, I wonder if he'll take them up on it. Sadly, they "retracted" it like the day after "While there was some confusion in the media flowing out of Quito yesterday, Ecuador's President Rafael Correa has clarified that his country has not invited WikiLeaks' founder Julian Assange to Ecuador," the statement said. In Ecuador, Correa said that his country has not made a formal invitation to Assange and that the ministry declaration, made by Deputy Foreign Minister Kintto Lucas, was "spontaneous" and personal in nature.

It seems wikileaks has managed to anger the entirety of the first world + their puppet governments. Good to know that something is actually happening though.

The release of the leaks is having it's desired effect. Making secret, underhanded dealings public shuts down many lines of communication for secret, underhanded affairs. This gives good organizations and good intentions the ability to compete with bad ones because now they're on a more equal footing (both sides can't hide anything, in the case of good intentions, there's nothing to hide).

Our minister of the industry Eric Besson (right wing-ist) has spoken to the french media and has publicaly asked for wikileaks to be closed in France. He has legitimated this by arguing that it's dangerous for the "sources" of the information published in WikiLeaks. So he has launched some investigation to find a way to get the site closed. This morning I've just received an email from "Octave", the manager of OVH, the leader of the web hosting in France that is quite funny. I translate it for you: "Good morning As you should know, the wikileaks website has been hosted on our hosting service since yesterday. This hosting service has been ordered by a customer who has bought a dedicated server with special security devices. He has bought it for 150 euros and he's now hosting the wikileaks website. According to the law, OVH is not the host of the website, we're just the technical provider of the solution for our customer. Shortly, it's a common story in the web-hosting business. The process is fully automated et works 24/24, you buy a server and we deliver it, that's it. This morning we've just discovered that we were hosting this website ... by reading the national newspaper. OVH is not promoting or against this website. The question is out of our sight, it's not our business to judge that. Our job is just to make sure that the server is operational. According to what our politicians are saying, and some pressure we are currently feeling, we should close this site. But we have decided to let the justice give his decision. It's not our business, and not the business of the politician to judje if a website should be closed or not, it's the justice job when we live in a democratic and fair country." I so agree with what he says... I know it's a little but out of the subject but it emphasizes quite well the will to control anything by the politicians it's disgusting.

The battle lines between supporters of the whistle-blowing Web site WikiLeaks and its detractors began to form on Sunday, as supporters erected numerous copies of the site on the Internet and the United States put pressure on Switzerland not to offer a haven to the site’s founder, Julian Assange. - http://www.nytimes.com/2010/12/06/world/europe/06wiki.html?_r=1&hp Look at this list of mirrors. It's huge: http://wikileaks.ch/mirrors.html Try and take that down ;p

The charges against him is just bogus and shitthrowing imo About 100k worth of Assange's personal money has been frozen in the paypal account for his defense fund and his personal Swiss bank account. I'm pretty sure stealing someone's money to hinder their own defense is a major human rights violation. But hey, it doesn't count if we don't like the guy. There goes 200 years of Swiss neutrality.
