"Dasselbe" means you have the exact same item.

Example:

I have bought the same CD - das Gleiche
I have bought the same shoes - das Gleiche
I have bought the same mobil phone - das Gleiche

They both use the (exact)same toilett - Dasselbe
They both use the same toothbrush(urgh) - Dasselbe
They both use the same computer(because they just have this one) - Dasselbe

...it is really simple but a lot of Germans dont know the different either....
