Its not that big... Not that different from tattoos piercings etc body modification. Hurts for a moment but thats it. Sure I'd like to hear their reasons for taking it though. People take fucking stupid tattoos all the time and theres no fuss of it...

Circumcision is much more groce though, and practically always done with the childs who can't consent yet

hmmm i don't know what to think of this...in my book, it's horribly wrong...but for some people it might be ok...isn't it ok to get tattoo with consent from parents? so what's the difference between getting tattoo and getting branded with consent of parent?

Lol get branded, it hurts for a long ass time while it heals. Tattoos are pretty pain free in comparison in both intensitity and duration.

A kid from one of my lab courses had his fraternity symbol branded on his arm. Kinda of like a tattoo I guess, but I disagree with this seeing the fact that they are children.

If they agreed to it then I guess it's okay.

There is a lot more to this story that could be revealed, but that shit should be done by professional investigators. You know, if he is abusive, if they actually consented or if it was something forced, things of that nature.

Honestly, if they really are okay with it, I cannot fault anyone. If it was their choice, I don't believe anyone should say otherwise. It doesn't sound like the best idea to me, but that's just my opinion, of course.

But still...ouch...
