I know of 3 that have been around since 2003, but they don't openly admit to being female on here because there is so many tools that treat them differently once they find out
On April 15 2010 12:39 Boblion wrote: Just a question: Spanish ( European ) are considered as Caucasian or Latino/Hispanic ?
Hispanic (Spanish: hispano, hispánico) is a term that originally denoted a relationship to the ancient Hispania (geographically coinciding with the Iberian Peninsula).[note 1] During the modern era, it took on a more limited meaning, relating to the contemporary nation of Spain.
Still more recently, primarily in the United States, the term has also (or alternatively) been used to denote the culture and people of countries formerly ruled by Spain, usually with a majority of the population speaking the Spanish language. These include Mexico, the majority of the Central and South American countries, and most of the Greater Antilles.
I guess it could go both ways, but Spain is rather different as far as culture and ethnicity goes from South and Central America, so i don't see why you should group the together.
In any case, i'm basically white because of german descent, but i'm from S.A., so i guess that makes me latino and that's what i voted for.

Yea, It's too difficult to break down all the multiracial combinations. Just vote other if you're a mix or vote your strongest one.
It's like the TL census or something! Pretty cool though to see the demographics of TeamLiquid though, so far its pretty similar to what I was expecting to see.
As of TL time 14:52. Data doesn't surprise me given the age of Starcraft and the maturity of the average TL poster. I guess the surprising part is the minor dip in age 20.
23, used to lurk a ton but decided to start posting with the SC2 beta coming out since I kind of want to start getting more involved with the SC2 community ^_^

lol.. was thinking the same thing. There's a South Asia and an East Asia, but no Southeast. :D
You guys are south ofc, East would be like Korea/Japan/China maybe Mongolia
On April 15 2010 18:07 hefty wrote: To OP: Europeans don't really think of themselves as either western or eastern - northern and southern are just as commonly used differentiators.
24, caucasian, chose western europe, mostly here for bw related material but also for sc2 related recently.
well it's easy to divide Europe into West and East because that was always the way it has been done in the past. Sweden, Germany, Italy are West right?
Wtf? I felt insulting having to choose between "Australian" and "Other". I'm a Kiwi damnit. We have almost as many people here as... well.. Kentucky.
Answered the questions. Confirmed a few things i already knew about this community, while still providing a few interesting tidbits. For instance, we have at least one 50+ forum member. Rock on dude!

Agree. We don't fit any of the categories. Next year make it Australasia or Oceania instead of Australia. Also Alethios, there are probably more New Zealanders living in Australia than in New Zealand by now, so don't forget to include them lol.
Edit: We have a population comparable with Norway, Finland and Denmark.
I've been lurking for a long time, but decided to join when the sc2-beta contests started. Still mostly lurk. Also surprised at the age distribution and where are all the females?

So you're dividing Europe according to iron curtain? That's not really good idea. We have geographical centre of Europe in Slovakia, should I vote eastern, just because of past?
Dear god I'm 27 and have been visiting this site since it was the monkey forum. How the hell did we get so many young people here and what happened to the oldies =(

Gettin' jobs and gettin' married. Better get on that.

Like either of those have stopped me from visiting!
So far it seems the average (or median, or mean? forgot how that stuff worked) person on this site is a 21 year old white male from North America, who comes here primarily to lurk through threads on a combination of Starcraft/Broodwar, Starcraft 2, other video games, and other community events, but not all of them.
Anyways, if anyone cares I put: 19, No but I don't post as often as a regular, male, other (half Filipino, half Puerto Rican), North America, A Combination of those but not all.
16 Asian/White Male Located in North America Post a decent amount. It's dwindled in the past few months. I used to come for BW, then it because the awesome community.
These beta key contests are going to skew these results hugely... so many people are just making an account and trying a contest then forgetting about it.

On the other hand, people who just make an account for the beta key contests may not really care to respond to a poll like this.

that's actually a good idea throw out an optional survey to complete with polls like this. incentive? instead of waiting 10 days to be able to create a thread, you get to wait 5! or something along those lines.
edit: i dont think mandatory is a way to go, optional usually means people who fill it out are less likely to screw around with their answers. just a hunch though, maybe someone should do a study on this!

hey that average is basically me! i come here for mafia and dota/hon and random awesome TL people like glider. sc/sc2 not at all come to think of it. not anymore, anyway. hurray for being average! >.> also i believe you're looking for mode. most common, right?
I mostly lurk, but I try to post every now and then... nothing really constructive, more for just a bit of chitchat. I come here for this and that, and of course SC related things. Asian living in the US...
Just hit 19, and I don't think StarCraft will ever get old for me. *nod*

stats yo. if it isn't mandatory there will be a response bias.
Elder statesman here. 28 yo white male from NA. Made an account when I discovered the site in 2005, but rarely post (clearly). Medical school and residency has sort of curbed my time to do so, but I sure do appreciate everything about this place.
I started coming to TL for the Korean Proleague stream links, then friends encouraged me to try out FPL That was about 2 years ago I think (wow is my computer really that old?). Then SC2 hit beta and the coverage here is amazing, and I stopped lurking and started posting a bit.
