and from japan... thus, anime. "cartoons" are just anime from the west, and "anime" is just cartoons from Japan afaik. both are often based on graphic novels (manga for japan, superhero cartoons etc. from america for example), and are animated in the real sense of the word. | ||

Also a lot of American and Japanese cartoons are actually done in Korea now. | ||
