Someone name some games that have some absolutely great music. Chrono Trigger, FF7, and Castlevania: Symphony of the Night have some of my favorite songs.

Others?

Hmmm, my fav Final Fantasy was actually FFX, if for one specific reason then it's seymour battle (final one... can't remember what it's called, I haven't listened to it for a long time, even though I can still remember that and any other FF Song that I've listened to).

Loved the music in Phantasy Star IV. The battle music was super techno and had a great pace. Final Fantasy VI comes in second for that great map music (Balance above Ruin).

Oh god, I don't want to list them all but I can tell you:

Every RPG I've played
Some Adventure games
Most Action games
A couple RTS games
...

I could list about 90 games that fall into all of those categories if you gave me time to remember them.

My favourite songs from FF8 are probably "The Stage is Set" and "Find your Way"

I didn't care for Eyes on me that much...

Out of what I've played, Mech Warrior 2 and its expansion Ghost Bear's Legacy probably contain the best original instrumental pieces.

None of you have ever played Halo 2 I guess? There is actually a pretty good reason for people saying it has the best soundtrack ever. A mix of big orchestras playing FUCKING GOOD CLASSIC MUSIC with Steve Vai's guitarrplaying that enters the scene in the battles is SO GODDAMN GOOD!

And the melodies for old classic NES-games like Mega-Man 2 and many others

Soundtracks I used to love when playing them and still listen to:
MechWarrior 2 soundtracks (including the original, GBL, and Mercs)
Command & Conquer (from tiberian dawn to red alert 1)
EVE-Online has some pretty memorable soundtracks
Homeworld 1
Ground Control 1 (haven't played the second one)
Halo 1 (Halo 2 soundtrack is alright, but Incubus and Hoobastank and that random techno artist ruined it for me... SKIP SKIP SKIP)

FF7 had alright music... maybe I'm just not into that stuff.
Starcraft had a decent Terran and Protoss soundtrack. Zerg was just... noise. ;d

gunbound also!!

God, I hate Gunbound music. I stopped playing a few months ago, though. I got 1 of my accounts to double golden ax, another one of my accounts to a double silver, and my 3rd account to a double stone. Gave all my avatars to my brother.

Frank Klepacki's music is my favorite. He did all C&C music (except Generals), Dune music, Renegade, Earth and Beyond, etc... He's now working on a Starcraft title. And the best part is

YOU CAN LISTEN TO ALL OF HIS CD-QUALITY MUSIC FOR FREE AT HIS WEBSITE

Lost Patrol on Amiga has fantastic music. http://amigos.amiga.hu/ancientoys/music.html
Brings back memories Amiga seems to be an underrated gaming machine, people are all talking about nes 8 bit games from that time.

chrono trigger <3
wow this is an old thread
and yes, the only music that comes close to chrono trigger in quality, for game music anyway, would be FF7
also, Diablo 2 has really nice music that fits the mood of the game wonderfully.
good vibes only

not going to repeat all the RPGs (Uematsu, Mitsuda, etc.), but I really like the music from Initial D -_-;;

A lot of group "Move" 's songs are really good, good music to play to keep you awake during all nighters ~

Because most people on here werent old enough to use amiga in it's heydey , they used the platform for youngsters at the time the NES.If Commodore weren't so stupid (released 4 versions of Amiga in one year , CEO stole millions and retired to Carribean islands etc) then the Amiga would be the main platform today imo.It was so far ahead of PC in the 80's it wasn't funny.
